Chapter 1 - Moving In

"Are you sure you want to live here? The house looks pretty much like it has been abandoned." my friend, Anne asked me. 

I could see what she meant. The house DID look like it has been abandoned. But, I am sure I will fix that issue. 

"Yes, I am." I replied before picking up my suitcases from the floor. There was no moving van as Anne literally lives quite close to this quiet area. "Okay. Do you need help?" she asked me before I gave her a small speech about how fine I am going to be with this new chapter in my life. Anne rolled her eyes before she got into her nice, light blue car. She then drove away as I began to enter the house. The house was supposed to be brand new, but it looked...shockingly old. 

Everything was just...outdated. We are living in the 21st century. I mean, come on! On the advertisement, it said that it was a modern house, but this wasn't modern. There was a awful smell coming from somewhere, maybe the walls were damp inside. I need to call someone about this. I reached into my denim jacket pocket and pulled out my phone. 

I started to search through my contacts to see if my old school friend, Jason can help me fix this mess. After finding the number, I gave it a ring. 

The phone immediately answered. 

"Hey, Alissa! What can I do for ya?" 

"Hey to you too. Can you come over to my new house? I want to see if you can fix a issue." 

"What issue? Your house is brand new! I got a better job to do..."

"Hey smart-ass, I don't care if you got a better job to do, I will even pay you the rest of my leftover money."

"What is the address? I will go over there as soon as I finished my customer's kitchen." 

"3 Dean Street." 

"Got it. I will be over in about 45 minutes."

"Thank you. Bye." I then hung up the call before I started to wait for him. Let's start with my introduction. My name is Alissa Holly. I haven't got a job yet, as I haven't applied for one yet. But, I got a degree in Education, so I will hopefully become an art teacher since I have a feel for it. My parents were great teachers, but they died in a tragic accident a few years ago. The reason that I bought this...abandoned house was because I needed to start a new chapter in my life...

Suddenly, a window suddenly smashed in the living room area, making me let out a small scream of surprise. Is it even possible for a glass pane to smash like that? Nobody was even around here! That just proves that this house was actually abandoned since the windows were covered in moss from the inside. I walked over to the window, the floor creaking every time I move.  Why was this house in such bad condition?

"Bloody hell." Jason said from behind, making me turn around to see him standing in the doorway. "Do you believe me now?" I asked him before he immediately nodded. 

"You do know that this is going to cost a lot to fix, right?" he asked me. Was he BLAMING me?

"Excuse me, this is not my fault. I didn't know that the house was in bad condition." I told him before I started to walk towards my suitcases, cringing at the sound of the floor boards. 

"How much do I need to pay you?" I asked him, wanting to get that question out of the way as I opened it up. I then took out my purse before he finally replied after a few seconds of hesitation, "£5,500." 

I then took out the money and gave it to him. "This is £900...you underpaid me." he told me. 

"Don't be so stupid, that is the correct money. Count it." I said before I watched him count it. 

"Sorry to say this, but this is £900." he said before he handed the money back to me. 

"Well, I am fucking sorry that I don't have enough money! I don't even have a JOB! Jason, I am your friend! Friends are supposed to help each other! You are doing the exact opposite!" I yelled at him. 

"Then, why don't you apply for one?" he asked me before I started to watch him leave. "Oh, fuck you!" I yelled again before a couple more windows smashed. 

The emotions that I was feeling...so much anger...

"Laisse moi sortir!"

Did I hear something?

// The translation is, "Let me out!"
