Author Note: This is a Trans AU for Shouta Aizawa, who will become Eraserhead. This AU eventually intertwines with another work on this site by Onyxkedron.

~Chapter One~

Shouta jerked his head up from his pillow, the alarm snapping him out of his dreams. Those wonderful, peaceful dreams. He grumbles as he half falls out of his bed, and moved to get ready for the day. He was supposed to be taking the entrance exams for UA. He could already hear the normal sounds of the morning, bringing out an exhausted sigh. He was already in a bad mood for having to be awake so early, he did not need his mother's boyfriend yelling at the television for no reason.

He gives a stretch and brushes out his hair, taking the braid down. He never minded having long hair but this was getting to be too much work. The only reason it was this long was to appease the lazy jerk in the living room, waking up the rest of the apartment building. Shouta stared at his reflection, already knowing what was wrong with what he saw. He was meant to be a boy, but if a stranger were to guess, they would say he was an overly tired schoolgirl. And he absolutely hated that.

"Oh come on! There is no way some bimbo like her could be hero!" The overly loud misogynist and sexist man shouted, more than loud enough to put Shouta's teeth on edge. "Are you telling me she used to be a man? Gross." That. Was. It. Shouta grabbed the hair cutting scissors from the drawer and started chopping off his hair. He wasn't going to take anymore of this nonsense. He knew the man was transphobic, but his poor mother was at the mercy of the pig. For now. Ms. Aizawa was not to be trifled with, but like her son she worked far too hard and came home too tired to complain about anything. Shouta cleaned up the mess of hair, and brushed it again. He enjoyed long hair so it stayed just above his shoulders, and partly fell in his face. "Good enough for now." he half mumbled to himself.

Shouta knew ways to stay hidden from his mom's boyfriend in the mornings, so he did just that as he grabbed some breakfast and got ready for the exam. He looked to his uniform options, tossing all of the femenine options to the floor in a heap. He pulls on pants, and drags out the chest binder he had hidden in the bottom of his underwear drawer. He was not about to start at UA and be seen as a girl. The binder was tight and uncomfortable, but it got the job done. He finished getting ready, pulling on a jacket and grabbing his bag before the loudmouth found him.

"The hell did you do to yourself? You look like a boy!" The man shouted again. At least Shouta was used to it by now. What he hated was what was said, and his grating voice that sounded like gravel on a chalkboard. "Yeah, that's the point. I'll be gone most of the day." He pulls on his shoes, and double checked that he had the workout outfit he and his mother had worked on until 2am one night.

"Who is going to fix my meals then?" Gravel again. So annoying.

"Fix them yourself. Or if that's too difficult for you, then leave." He glared at the man, disgusted by how closed-minded he was to everything that didn't involve him. "Besides, my mom left you a note on the fridge. Better hope you aren't here when she gets home, you haven't seen her get pissed off." He warns, taking an umbrella just in case. Better to be prepared right? He didn't bother to see if the jerk had gone to read the note or was just shocked Shouta had finally stood up for himself.

Once he was away from the apartments, he let himself give a smile for himself. His uniform made him look more like a boy. So did his hair, even with it still being fairly long. Sure breathing was a bit more of a concern, but he looked the way he had been wanting to look for a long time. It seemed so simple for a moment. The only thing that had been holding him back, wasn't going to be there much longer. He didn't ever have to hide from his mother, she understood and supported him already. She was the reason he even had a binder, and a boy's uniform.

It took him a bit of time, but he was soon standing just outside of UA. He had to work hard to get to this point, and he knew the trials were just starting. The wind picked up, making him try and move his hair from his face, so he wouldn't trip over any loose bricks in the walkway. Though he really should have been watching for the group of students behind him who also weren't paying attention to where they were going.
