You saw Caroline's face crumble as you once again brush off her open display of affection towards you.
Your girlfriend had no problem with people knowing the two of you were together, but you weren't as on board with that as she clearly was, and it wasn't even the thought of people knowing you're gay that worried you.
Being with Caroline was great, she made you feel like the only person in her world, but being in a real loving relationship, terrified you and people knowing that only made you feel worse.
So instead of being caring towards your girlfriend, you often pushed her needs and wants away.
"You know what I can't do this" Caroline blurted as you raised your eyebrow at her outburst, you were sat in the grill with your siblings, Elena and Jeremy, along with your small group of friends.
"Do what?" you questioned, eating a curly fry nonchalantly as your girlfriend looked close to tears when she rose from her chair, and you wanted nothing more than to comfort her.
"Either you get up and kiss me in front of all these people, or I'm gone."
Caroline's ultimatum was harsh, causing you to hesitate, and before you knew it, she had tears slipping down her cheeks as she made her way out of the grill, leaving you with a pit in your stomach.
Groaning, you let your head drop to the table "why didn't you kiss her?" your older sister Elena questions as your friends watched you carefully; they didn't understand why you were so against anyone else knowing about you and Care.
"Love makes you weak, Elena, and I refuse to be weak to love," you explained as your sister lets out a short laugh rubbing your arm comfortingly as she shook her head.
