We arrived at Kyle's mansion, and I stared in astonishment at the huge building, even though it's my second time seeing it. The cold winter air bit my cheeks and I pulled the scarf Everett gave me tighter around my neck. "You know, you are good for something at least," I said absentmindedly to the man himself, who walked beside me towards the entrance. "You gave me this scarf, so thanks for being useful."

He just rolled his eyes as we pushed the huge wooden doors open and stepped in. I relished in the heat, sighing happily. People were already drunk and grinding on each other to the beat of the loud music blaring from the speakers from the living room.

We made our way to the kitchen and grabbed ourselves some drinks. My eyes landed on a certain blonde-haired girl who was dressed in a tight, short red dress. "Hey!" Savannah greeted when she noticed us. "You guys made it!"

Ava smiled. "Hey, girl! You look good."

"Thanks." Savannah smiled, her eyes slipping over to Everett. "Hey! It's been a while."

Everett just nodded. "Yeah."

Turning to me, her blue eyes gleamed with a look I couldn't name. "Nova, I've been wanting to talk to you," she said. My head shot down when she suddenly wrapped a hand around my wrist. "I'm going to steal Miss Nova here for a sec!" She blew a kiss at Everett, Ava, and Luka, who all just nodded and sipped their drinks.

I glared at them as Savannah pulled me a few feet away. "So," she said. "There's something I'm curious about."

I raised an eyebrow. "Which is?"

"You have feelings for Everett." The way she said those words made it seem like she was more stating a fact rather than asking a question. A hand rested on her hip as she stared at me, her red lips pursed.

"Pfft!" I sputtered, slapping my hand against the wall and laughing dryly. "What on earth makes you think that?" I asked, pressing my lips together as I looked at her with wide eyes.

"It's obvious," she stated.

My lips made a 'pop' sound as I opened my mouth, then closed it, clearing my throat. "That's not true, but if it were, then why do you care?" I asked. "You don't have feelings for him. RIght?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"No, I don't," she told me. Sighing, she crossed her arms. "I just think it's weird you would tell your childhood friend to stop sleeping with someone just because you didn't like it. So, I figured it's because you have feelings for him." She tilted her head thoughtfully. "Then again, he must have some for you, too. Otherwise, why would he stop sleeping with me?" She shrugged. "Whatever. I didn't want to be in the middle of whatever you two have going on anyway. It seems like a pain."

I looked at her with an incredulous expression on my face. "Okay...?" I said, confused. "We don't have 'something going on,' but yes, keep yourself out of it either way. Weirdo."

She just rolled her eyes before walking away, her blonde hair swishing through the air. I blinked a few times, collecting myself, before turning and walking back to the others.

Ava smiled at me. "So, what did she want?" she asked.

I shook my head. "Nothing of importance." All I wanted was to forget that conversation even happened.

"So, I heard there's a band that's going to be playing here tonight," Luka said. "I forgot the name of them, though."

Ava tilted her head. "Let's hope they're good! I don't want to be stuck listening to sucky music."
