Chapter 25:

(Alex's POV)

Dalawang lingo nalang at malapit ng matapos ang 1st at 2nd street ng West Inner district. Magsisimula na ulit kami sa rescue mission. Plano ko na ding buuin ang pangalawang team ng X-Squad.

It's surprising that they are overly competetive about joining the team. I can see them training harder than usual, while some are asking about the 3rd team already! I can't even imagine, couple of months ago, halos walang magtangkang sumali sa squad. The squad's morale are getting higher and higher..  I can see how they treat the squads like celebrities. Even the new survivors have stars in their eyes. Just like now..

We focused our training on speed, strength and weapon handling.  Hindi nawawala sa training namin ang controlled and paced running. I admit, they can defeat three, or four freaks at the same time. But a horde?? Nah, forget it. All we can do is to run.

" Lyka... "

" oh ? "

I rolled my eyes and sigh..

" anong problema?? " takang tanong niya habang pumapapak ng gummy bears... Kaninong pagkain na naman kaya tong nanakaw nya.

" wala naman... Pero~ don't you feel something's strange?? "

" what do you mean? "

" we both knew how long we trained martial arts, and it took us couple of years to perfect it. We both started training eversince we're seven.. But them?? Wala ka ba talagang napapansin?? "

She stopped eating and squinted her eyes.

" yes.. I noticed it. "

" see? I've been thinking about it for 2 months now.. Hindi ko siguro mapapansin kung hindi dahil kay Billy. "

" how? "

" Billy's getting faster and faster everyday! I recorded his run for 2 months now. Everyday his speed is increasing by 0.01 second.. This is so abnormal "

" really?? Maybe it's normal. He's just a kid and still growing "

" seriously?? He's getting taller but his speed is also increasing. Since then, pati ang ibang members ay napapansin ko na din. They are improving by leaps and bounds. "

" isn't it a good thing?? "

" of course. Even better "

It is..

" Alex.. Are you thinking that -- you can't be haha! "

" don't laugh. I'm serious here "

" i'm sorry. Pero hindi ito tulad ng mga anime series na napapanood natin  bes.  Are you freaking thinking of getting super natural abilities from apocalypse??? "

I closed my eyes in frustration.

" yes "

She stopped laughing and stared at me with two wide eyes.

" why ?? "

" let's go to the rooftop first "

Tahimik kaming naglakad para pumunta sa rooftop na lagi kong pinupuntahan.

We both fell silent when we reach the top. My eyes roam down the mountain and the city.

" Lyka, Our growth was abnormal too. You know we are not normal "

She didnt respond.

" they are starting to be like us. Ang pinagkaibahan lang, nauna tayo "
