America just stood there, letting the insults sink into his skin.
Fatass
Pig
Coward
And many other hurtful words.

He couldn't take it anymore. His mother, Native America, always told him to smile. She always told him his smile had the power to change the world, to make it happier, and that he could be the hero.

He had also learned over the years, that the more hurt he was, the more he tried to smile. There was a point in his life when he couldn't find the difference between his real emotions, the the emotions he put on for the world. This was the Great Depression. He never wanted to go back to that point in his life, the scars haunted him everyday.

Yes. The happy, energetic, strong America, used to cut. And he never wanted to return to that. So, the only plausible solution, was, to not smile. To not mix up all his feelings. To show his true self. To show the broken, unsmiling, hurt hero that he hid from everyone.

America let his smile drop.
