I am struggling with this story, and I think it's because Dani's story doesn't really start until Prisoner of Azkaban because of the whole Buckbeak connection, Azkaban is really when Draco and Dani's relationship really picks up as well.
What I might do is go back, set up the first chapters keeping her young and going into her first year and then jump forward to it being year three, like when she runs through the portal thing at the train station she pops out the other side and it's been two years.
And put in flashbacks to books/films one and two, like her meeting the others, and her reactions to the big stuff that happens.
Is there anything you would change so far??
