Red's POV

It's been two months and after we refused everyone for two weeks, they all gave up on finding out who told Seth I was sick. Sam got lucky.

Sitting in Ryder's office, he was bent over his papers, brow furrowed in concentration. I leaned back into the sofa, my legs crossed with my laptop in my lap. I flickered through the articles. The rouge situation was getting worse. The boys stopped contacting me with updates. It was always the same. They killed some of them, a few hunters were injured or killed and more rouges appeared. I don't think any of the alphas are talking about it yet, or if they are, Ryder hasn't mentioned it to me.

With a sigh, I shut the laptop, stood up and walked over to Ryder. Sitting up he leaned his head back against me, closing his eyes. My finger tips traced across his eyebrows and down his jaw line. His hand came up and held mine against his cheek, eyes opening up into mine. He pulled my hand down to his lips and kissed it softly.

"Mhhh. You seem tired lately." He nodded, turning to face me.

"One of the alpha's in the next state over is getting married. Our dad's went way back, but his father passed away last year. Will you accompany me to the wedding? It'll be two days and one night, three weeks from now." I nodded and he gave me a tired smile.

I took his hand, slowly pulling him to his feet. "Come on. Let's go to bed." Both of us fell into bed and curled up for the night.

It's been two and a half weeks and a knot has grown in my stomach. Something is wrong. I can feel it. No matter how much I worked out, it wouldn't go away. Nothing could relieve this overwhelming feeling of dread.

We were having dinner in our room when I set down my fork. "Ryder?" Looking up at me he set down his glass. "I have a bad feeling about this trip." He remained completely calm and waited for me to continue. "I know this means alot to you, but something is going to happen, and I want you to be here when it happens." Anger flashed in his eyes and I almost regretted saying anything.

All I wanted was for him to say something as he pushed back his chair and stood up. His hand over his mouth he walked to the window and then towards the bed before turning back to look at me. "You want me to send you a state away to another pack's territory, by your self?!" He demanded incredulously.

I folded my hands and dared not break eye contact with him. "I don't want you to do anything. I'm saying I think it would be a good idea." He closed his eyes and took another walk around the room.

"No. I can't. There's no way." he muttered.

Walking up beside him, I wrapped my arms around him. "It's not like I want to be apart, but I guess it could also be a good thing. It'd be the first time we were ever apart. I'd be with your old friend, who's getting married, under the protection of an allied pack." Slowly he began to nod.

"Okay. Two days, one night and that's it." The last bit he spoke playfully, kissing the tip of my nose. I shot him a playful glare. "I miss you already." He whispered.

My eyebrow rose and I laughed. "I'm right here stupid." My playful glare was returned and I shook my head. "Let's finish our dinner then."

*****

It was seven in the morning and I was throwing my bag in the car for the trip. Ryder hadn't left my side in nearly thirty hours and I would have been ready for this trip had it not been for that knot in my stomach. "Call when you get there. Or before, just not while you're driving." He told me hesitantly. No one else was coming with me, and it was freaking them all out. If only I could laugh.
