Taehyung received a blow to his face as Seokjin's knuckles jabbed him right in his upper jaw. A stinging sensation immediately spread across his cheek as Taehyung's hand instinctively crawled up to his face and cupped it gently.
"What the-"
"You deserved that, you moron," Seokjin wrung his right hand, as the pain in his knuckles shot through his arm. He looked up at Taehyung, a look of seriousness filling his eyes. "I was wrong about saying that Jisoo will eventually fall for me once you disappeared... I was wrong after all and maybe- maybe you were the one who should have stayed."
Taehyung looked up at Seokjin, his desire to retaliate fading slowly.
"These past five years-" Seokjin fought back tears as he looked away, unable to meet Taehyung's eyes. "I waited and waited, I waited for her to finally look at me the way she looked at you. But never- not even once, did she see me that way.
"I longer for her so bad, I wanted to give her a world. I thought that as long as I had money and could provide for her, that was enough. Somehow, even after our engagement fell through, I thought I still had a chance, a tiny bit of me still thought that I could get through to her one day, one day she'd become mine... But oh boy, how wrong I was - all these years, I only had her person, but never her heart.
"That day- at Jimin and Jennie's wedding, she broke down- she thought she saw you and she went insane, bawling, yelling for you right before my very eyes- she had just dreamt of you that day itself in the waiting room, the same nightmare that something horrible had happened to you- and standing right there, watching her fall to pieces for the I've lost count of how many-th number of time, everything just clicked.
"You couldn't have her in person for the past five years, but now I finally know that you're the person for her," Seokjin admitted after a long pause. "I only have one question to ask you right now - do you still love her?"

Taehyung stared back at Seokjin for a while, massaging his sore cheekbone. "That's between the two of us, why should I-"
"You really have a lot to say, don't you-" Seokjin snarled. "Answer the damn question, for goodness sake."
Taehyung pursed his lips, before looking up at Seokjin slowly. "I do."
Seokjin inhaled sharply. "I can choose to let go of her, but I only have one condition."
"What condition?"
"I-" Seokjin bit his lower lip, hesitating slightly. "I let her listen to everything that happened between us back then in the car, so she probably thought- no, still thinks- that I paid you to leave. As long as you tell her to forgive me, I'll give the two of you my blessings."
