"Just-" Taehyung chuckled softly. "If anything happens to me in the future, you'll be by Jisoo's side right?"
"What are you saying?" Jimin sat up straight and frowned at Taehyung. "Dude, you're scaring me. Can you talk properly? Where are you going?"
"Calm down, Park Jimin-" Taehyung clucked his tongue. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm just saying... you know how things are with my dad, anything might happen anytime, whether he beats me to death or I run away from home-"
"Your dad started beating you again lately?" Jimin looked upset. "Why didn't you tell me! I thought you promised to tell me if he started beating you again!"

"No, he didn't, you dummy-" Taehyung lied through his teeth, concealing it with a nervous laugh. "I'm just saying... anything can happen, so I want you to promise you'll take good care of Jisoo for me. You're the person I trust most after all."
"No, I'm not going to," Jimin said, looking upset as he lay back down on the ground. "I'm not going to, so you better be by her side to take care of her."
"Jimin-ah..."
"Kim Taehyung, listen-" Jimin got up once more, as he glanced at Taehyung with slightly teary eyes. "I have no idea what you're up to... but cut it out - it's not funny... at all."
Taehyung was serious. "I'm not joking, Park Jimin."
"But these aren't things you'd usually say!" Jimin exclaimed. "You're saying really weird things tonight and making me scared, do you know that? Did something happen with Jisoo?"
"I..." Taehyung hesitated. "I'm meeting her tomorrow, and telling her how I feel about her."

Jimin's ears perked up. "And how do you feel about her?"
"I think I like her, Jimin-ah..." Taehyung shook his head. "No- I do like her, I like her so much I don't think I've liked anyone this much before."
"Including me?"
"Shut up-" Taehyung chuckled as he punched Jimin in the shoulder. "You know it's different."
"I knew this day was gonna come, sooner or later," Jimin said with a grin, but his smile soon vanished a while later. "But... if you're telling how you feel, y'all are gonna become a couple, no? Then why would you talk about such dark things?"
"I don't know," Taehyung admitted with a deep sigh. "I just feel so uneasy these days, like something really bad's going to happen."
"Ah... I get that." Jimin nodded slowly, relaxing a little after hearing Taehyung's explanation. "I do feel like this too, sometimes - especially right before I make huge changes to my life. I know that for you, it is a huge step out of your comfort zone, Taehyung-ah, since you only ever had me before this. And this, time we're talking about you getting a girlfriend... I can understand that can be daunting for you. But you have me by your side - nothing bad's going to happen at all."

Taehyung bit his lower lip. "You really think so?"
Jimin reached over and held Taehyung's hand tightly in his, giving him a reassuring smile.
"Everything's going to be alright, Taehyung-ah."
To that, Taehyung didn't respond. Not just for a few seconds, but for the rest of the night, he just looked up into the sky, wishing with all his might that Jimin's words would come through.
