Taehyung looked at Jimin seriously. "You're not kidding, are you?"

"Kidding?" Jimin furrowed his eyebrows. "Why would I joke about such things? I'm only telling you because I thought you were already aware about it."

"Oh."

"Why-" Jimin smiled a little. "Do you feel a bit sad, now that the girl who used to like you is now going to be married to someone else? A feeling of like something that belongs to you is being snatched away by someone else?"

"No, it's nothing like that-" Taehyung sighed. "It's just..."

Taehyung's voice trailed away as at that very moment, he spotted two familiar-looking girls walking towards them. He instantly turned away and pretended to be reading his notes.

"Ah, there she is-" Jimin grinned as he spotted Jennie. "I told Jennie where I was - I swear I had absolutely no idea Jisoo-ssi was with her. It seems like y'all have been avoiding each other so good luck, bro. Gotta blast!"

Jimin got up and walked towards the two of them, bowing slightly at Jisoo before interlocking his fingers with Jennie's and walking away

Jimin got up and walked towards the two of them, bowing slightly at Jisoo before interlocking his fingers with Jennie's and walking away. Taehyung couldn't even bear to look up, but in the corner of his eye, he could see Jisoo approaching him carefully and take a seat opposite him, but she didn't say a word.

Taehyung got up to leave.

"Wait-"

Taehyung froze and turn to look at Jisoo, who had gotten up when he did.

"Wait-" Jisoo repeated as she took a seat slowly. "Can we talk for a bit? Just a short while, it won't take too much of your time."

"Oh, I'm surprised," Taehyung said cynically as he took his seat again anyway, putting his bag down oj the floor with a thud. "I thought you were the one who has been avoiding me."

"No, I haven't," Jisoo denied. "I've just been busy."

Taehyung raised his eyebrows. "Busy with what?"

"School, family," Jisoo said vaguely. "A whole bunch of things."

"A whole bunch of things-" Taehyung scoffed under his breath

"A whole bunch of things-" Taehyung scoffed under his breath. "What a nice way to phrase 'my engagement'."

"What did you say?" Jisoo frowned. "You really like muttering under your breath, huh."

"Nothing important to be taken note of," Taehyung said bluntly. "Don't worry."

Jisoo furrowed her eyebrows at Taehyung. "You're really weird, do you know that?"

"And you are even weirder for liking me," Taehyung retorted, but his entire mind was preoccupied with one thing that Jimin had told him just a few minutes ago that he just had to get it off his chest. "I heard you're accepting your engagement to Seokjin sunbae-nim."

"I..." Jisoo pursed her lips. "I did some thinking. And I thought that if my decision will make everyone happy, that's what I should do."

Taehyung shook his head, looking at Jisoo like she was crazy. "This matter has got to do with your entire future, and you make your decision based on other people's happiness? Are you out of your mind?"

"What difference would it make?" Jisoo said, her face expressionless. "It's not like you like me anyway. Seokjin-oppa treats me well, and both our parents want us to be together. If it makes everyone happy, I'll just sacrifice my own happiness. It's not like I'll be that much happier not getting married to him after all."

"You're freaking crazy-" Taehyung threw his pen down onto the table, once again garnering stares from the other students around him who were simply trying to study. But Taehyung didn't care. "Just because I told you I didn't like you that day, you decided to agree to go ahead with the engagement? You must be out of your mind."

"Why? Do you not want me to?" Jisoo questioned Taehyung. "Why do you keep saying that you don't like me but still keep on acting like you do?"

"I don't need to like you to care about you," Taehyung said, but for some reason he sounded like he was trying to convince himself, rather than convince Jisoo. "Anyway, I'm just saying that you're dumb if you decide to gamble your life like that just because I rejected you. It's up to you whether you want to listen to me - after all, it's not like my opinion matters."

"You know your opinion matters to me the most in this whole world," Jisoo said quietly as she lifted her eyes to meet Taehyung's. "If you tell me not to accept the engagement, I'll cancel it right away."

Taehyung frowned

Taehyung frowned. "Why would you do that-"

"I really will."

"You should never joke about such things, Kim Jisoo-ssi."

But Jisoo was dead serious. "I'm not joking."

Taehyung felt his heart quicken as he looked into Jisoo's eyes, pleading for him to tell her not to get engaged to him. He had no idea exactly who this girl was, or what she was up to, or how she had such control over his heart - but in that moment, he only had one thing to say to her.

"Don't get engaged to him," Taehyung said, with his voice trembling ever so slightly. "Don't get the wrong idea, I'm saying this for your own sake... but please, don't get engaged to him."
