Ryan leaves his house and heads for the bus stop. "Hey Ryan what's up?" Calls a voice that always brightens Ryan's day.

"Hey Rocky how are you doing?" Ryan asks the boy.

"Better now that the stitches came out, that was one nasty cut!" Ryan's best and only friend, Rocky Shepherd, recently was hurt at the scrapyard where he gets supplies for his inventions. He fell off a roof and cut himself on a rusty metal bar, luckily that's the worst of his injuries. Ryan really connected with Rocky mostly because Rocky was also abused as a child. But in 2016, Rocky was adopted by Chase Shepherd, a police officer who took Rocky in and helped him get out of a depressed state of mind. Now present day Rocky is always there for Ryan.

After geometry class Rocky had to go to chemistry and Ryan had, "Animation? Great!" Ryan said sarcastically.

—Time Skip—

"Lunch!" Said Rocky."Finally!" Exclaimed Ryan. Ryan and Rocky both sat down and began to eat lunch, until someone decided to drop by.

"Well if it isn't the freak and his boy loving buddy!" Said James, the school bully.

"Leave him alone!" Ryan yells, voice wavering and hands shaking.

"Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it, tell your momma? Oh wait, that's right she's dead, isn't she?" Taunts James."Maybe you should do us all a big favor and join her!"

Ryan balls his fists and began to rush James.

"Enough! Mr. Dean, my office now!" Says principal Ryder.

"Later freak." James mumbles under his breath.

Rocky ran to Ryan's side, "Thank you for standing up for me Ryan, are you alright?" Rocky looked at Ryan's face realizing that he's crying.

"He's right, goodbye." Ryan said as he ran out the school.

"Wait! No! don't go!" Cried Rocky, realizing what Ryan meant, he took off after him. Managing to make it just in time, Rocky watches in horror as Ryan stands on the edge of the bridge. "Don't do it Ryan, please don't jump!"

"Why shouldn't I? What do I have to live for?" Shouted Ryan, tears streaming down his face. "My father just beats me every chance he gets, my mother is dead, and everyone hates me!" Ryan cried out, his light brown hair flowing in the ocean breeze.

"I care about you! Please don't jump, just come live with me and my family." Said Rocky, desperately trying to save his friend from a cruel death.

"Why, Rocky why do you care so much about me?" Said Ryan, who is inching closer to Rocky's hand, his deep blue eyes staring at the ocean below.

"Because I've been in your shoes, you've seen my scars. I know that you're going through hell but so have I, and I know for a fact that it's going to get better! You just have to trust me, ok?" Rocky says, tears rolling down his cheeks from his amber eyes, and his grey hair blowing in the wind.

"O-Ok, I trust you." Ryan said as he took Rocky's outstretched hand. Rocky wraps Ryan into a big hug. Ryan sobs into his best friend's green jacket while Rocky comforts him. The crowd "awwws" and cheers at the successful and heart warming rescue.

In the crowd was a touched auburn hair boy who has a peculiar speech impairment, "Wocky's so sweet."

"Let's go home. You can stay with me for a while. Is that ok with you?" Asks Rocky while rubbing his hand on Ryan's back.

"R-really, I c-can stay with y-you?" Ryan asked between puzzled sobs. "I don't have any clothes or anything."

"I'll get you clothes later but for now you can stay in my room." Said Rocky with a warm smile on his face.

"Ok, let's go home!" Ryan exclaimed with newfound hope.
