Chapter 35: End Of The...Beginning?

My eyes slowly opened, the bright lights forcing them shit once more, I grogily stood as I observed my surroundings, I appeared to be in a large, multi-floored building, the walls covered with various mirrors, I walked up to one, gazing into the murky depths, I gasped when the reflection slowly made itself clear, for it was not me who was reflected, but Ruby! There was something off about this place, that much was certain, why the hell is this thing reflecting Ruby and not me? Things took an even more unexpected turn as the reflection drew closer, while half of her face seemed perfectly fine, the other was covered by a small white mask

"What on Earth...?" I spoke to myself

"Ah, there you are..." I whipped around, reaching for Half Rose, only to find it missing, I stared back at the man before me, a dark cloak concealed his face

"I'm not going to hurt you, lord knows you lot have been through enough already..." He spoke

"Who are you? Where am I?" I asked, regardless of whether he claimed to be an enemy or not, the situation was too suspicious

"Well, those are two 'very' difficult and...complicated questions to answer, but to keep it simple, just call me...Clotho, yeah, that works." He said, continuing shortly after

"As for this place..." Clotho said, walking up next to me as he gazed into one of the mirrors

"Lachesia, not the best name but hey, it fits." I didn't respond and instead looked back into the mirror beside us, a small child in a light blue sailor-style uniform shuffled from behind her, two black and red stars emblazoned on it

"These mirrors...they are a strange thing indeed...they will not reflect the outside world, never have done...I have spent...far too long trying to figure this place out, to unravel its mysteries." I glanced over to him, despite not being able to see his face, he looked...tired

"Did you ever figure them out, the mirrors I mean?" He raised a finger, placing it on the glass as he traced what appeared to be a fine crack, perfectly splitting the two sides of Ruby in half

"I think so...oh?" He began, the reflection of Ruby suddenly moved, with one hand reaching towards the mask

"From what I can see, these mirrors...predict fate itself..." The mask smashed on the floor, I covered my mouth as I saw Ruby, half of her skin had been tainted black, the Sclera of her once innocent eyes had been corrupted into pitch darkness

"Interesting, hers is not the only one of Remnants mirrors to have split like this, the young Miss Schnee had quite the interesting transformation, why, I never saw it coming." I've had enough of this

"Just who the hell are you?! Really?! And why am I even here?!" Clotho chuckled to himself

"How did I forget? We're so short on time too..." Clothos attitude suddenly inverted, he gripped my shoulders tightly

"Listen closely now Shatter, you've got a big job ahead of you, you'll soon meet with some allies, you must remember!"

"What?"

"You must remember!"

"Remember what?!"

"Not what, who!"

"Stop playing these fucking games, who?!"

"The one most important to you..." And before I could say anything else, it was all gone.
