I sit on the couch in my condo lighting a blunt while my tv plays the news. Today is Ares and Jordan's baby shower and I'm dressed, but I should be leaving the house right now. I take a pull of my blunt relaxing into my couch for a moment before blowing out the smoke. While I put my right shoe on I hold the blunt between my lips when the tv catches my attention causing me to look up...
"We have more news on the break in at building One57 involving entrepreneurs Desdemona Garnet and Draco De Carlo." I take the blunt from my lips and smile a little that they call me an entrepreneur. "Four masked and armed men came into her penthouse in the late hours of the night after killing the doorman, Dennis Wallace. All four assailants were killed by Garnet and De Carlo to save their own lives. Turns out the four men were all apart of the Mafia tied family, the Moretti's. If you don't recall this was a family known for doing murder for hire."
I raise my eyebrows not knowing that detail. I had no idea they found out it was the Moretti's behind it. At this point they have enemies coming back to back. It makes me think about the fact Ares and Apollo were supposed to meet up with the Moretti's, but it turned out to be setup by the Yakuza and Riku. They're attempts to kill us aren't working, but they're relentless.
The news anchor continues, "Looks like they were no match for the socialite and fashion designers. There will be no charges against the pair due to the Castle Doctrine, which allows you to use deadly force in your own home. This is good news for Garnet who already has a murder trial under way after a shooting some months back. The big question is who wants to harm Desdemona Garnet and why?"
The answer to the why is me and my family. This is what happens when you drag someone into your shady lifestyle. I need to put all this to a stop and fast before more innocent people get hurt. Dennis didn't even have to die like that. What would've happened to Desdemona if I wasn't there that night? Yeah, she had guns and can apparently shoot those bitches now, but one person against four?
