I nod, smiling. "So, Sylvia, where are you from?"
"Right here, born and raised in Hurricane."
"Huh...odd. I don't remember seeing any of your files from here. How-"
"Sixteen. I go to the high school across town."
"Okay then."
"Oh, and when can I check myself out of this place? I need to be somewhere soon."
I stare at her in shock. She really wants to discharge herself this soon? Shaking my head, I hold out the papers I'm holding.
"You aren't supposed to check yourself out without consent of a legal guardian, but I won't tell. Here's the papers. They were supposed to be for another patient, but you can use them instead."
Sylvia nods and quickly starts to write down what's needed on the sheet, and has clearly had to do this before. She hands me back both the pen and paper, smiling.
"Thanks Logan. If I need your help again I'll tell you."
With that, she stands up and begins walking out of the room. I don't stop her, knowing that it probably isn't advisable for me to do so. I hope she stays safe.

Phoenix's POV
As soon as I step out of the hospital, I start running. I'm glad that he bought my lies, even if I feel bad about it. But honestly, I shouldn't feel that bad about it.
I run to my house, and slow down to a walk when I see a chain link fence around it, as well as a sign that says "no trespassing". Walking closer, I see a sign on the gate that says that my house has been deemed unfit to live in, and therefore been locked up.
Knowing this won't be the smartest choice I've made, I jump the fence and walk around back. I can see that the ladder I used to get into my room is still leaning against the roof, which I'm thankful for. I know that I can easily teleport inside, but I'd rather not use unnecessary magick right now. I know, shocker coming from me.
Quickly climbing up the ladder, I step on to the roof. I peer into my room, and see that it's completely dark, with the exception of the dawn light starting to filter through the window. I pry the window open and drop into my room, landing as quietly as I can. I run to my closet and pull the doors open. All of my clothes are still here.
Deciding almost instantly, I pull an old, dark purple tank top out. I run over to my dresser and pull out a pair of ripped up black jeans, and some underwear. I walk out of my room, holding my clothes, and carefully tread to the bathroom across the hall.
Setting my clothes down on the dusty (how did this place collect so much dust in the first place?) counter by the sink, I turn the water for the shower on. After a moment or two of no water, and me thinking they probably shut off the plumbing, the clear liquid finally spills from the showerhead.
I sigh in relief, thankful that this is one thing my dad hasn't completely fucked up.
(Small time skip because I know that there's probably people younger than me reading this and won't keep a straight face at me writing a small shower scene...)
Stepping out of the icy water, I quickly grab my clothes and put them on, not fully caring that I'm not really dried off at all. I need to do this quickly.
After I step out of the bathroom, I notice that the hallway is slightly more lit up from the sunlight streaming through the window at the end of the hall. I'm running out of time before someone notices that I'm in here.
I need to hurry up and get then the hell out.
--------------
Heyo everyone! I apologize for not updating or being active...life is kinda shitty for me right now. I know close to nothing about some things in hospitals, so I apologize if I've messed something up.
But aside from writers block, depression has been on my ass, as well as sleep deprivation, not eating enough, dysphoria, and anxiety. Then there's school and taking care of my brothers, and trying to make sure no one in my friend group or me ends up dying. On top of that, I got dumped and found out my grandmother is in a nursing home for a while because of a stroke.
So again, I'm sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything. And I'm also sorry if it seems like I pulled this chapter out of my ass.
Well, see you soon, Spirits. Ciao!
