126. Sister, Sister

"It's like he's desperate for all of us to hate him," Stefan said, piecing together the events of the day. He'd seen Damon with his humanity off, but this was different.

"It's not Damon," Ric reminded them firmly. "This is Damon under the control of a she-devil. We have to find a way to break her control, and we will."

Riley frowned. "Speaking of the she-devil... what did she say to you?" she asked Stefan. After they had used the artefact (which they now knew was a tuning fork) on Sybil, they locked her away in the cages of the Armory until they could figure out a way to either kill her, or control her. Stefan had gone to find out more.

"Well... Sybil has a sister."

Caroline's mouth dropped open. "There's another Siren?"

"Yep," Stefan nodded. "Another Siren. A whole other person with the ability to get into our minds and completely destroy our lives. And if we don't find out who she is, then all of this will be for nothing, because it'll just happen all over again."

Riley frowned. "How are we supposed to find her?"

There was a defined silence as they realized they had no way to answer the question. After all, Sybil's sister could be anyone, and she could be anywhere in the entire world.

"Even if we break Sybil's hold," Stefan said finally. "Even if we find the sister... once Damon realizes what he's done, he may not recover."

Riley rested her chin on her hand, her head tilted. "So what do we do?"

Stefan took a breath. "We have to put him down."

Ric and Riley looked at each other with matching faces of shock.

"Are you out of your mind?" Riley hissed angrily. "Damon isn't himself right now, Stefan. Not only are you gonna end up in a coffin like Tyler, but if Damon kills you, he's never gonna come back to us. This is a stupid idea."

Caroline crossed her arms and sat back in her seat. "It's the only idea." She ignored her sister's look of outrage. "Otherwise what? We let him run wild and kill another one of our friends?"

Ric sighed, looking at Stefan. "You're sure about this?"

Stefan nodded vehemently. "It's for his own good. And it's the only way that we can protect ourselves."

Seeing the determination in his face, Riley decided not to fight his decision. Instead, she stood up. "Fine. You do what you need to do – I'm gonna work on Sybil."

Ric raised an eyebrow. "She's not gonna tell you who her sister is."

"I know," Riley told him, putting a hand on her hip. "But, right now, Sybil's mysterious sister is the least of my problems..."

When Riley got to the Armory, Sybil was sitting in her cell. Her legs were crossed on the small bed. When she heard the footsteps, she opened her eyes, and immediately smirked.

"I wondered when one of you would show up," she said, her eyes narrowing. "Let me guess, you're gonna use that fork to force me to tell you everything?"

Riley dragged a chair in front of the glass panel that separated them and sat down. "Actually, I think it would be better if we could both think straight."

After a moment, Sybil stood up, walking close to the glass. "You want me to tell you who my sister is?" she guessed. "Or... are you gonna ask me to release Damon?"

Riley crossed her arms and gave the Siren a small, disingenuous smile. "I don't give a damn about your sister, and the last person in the world that I want to talk about is Damon Salvatore."
