Hey guys, I haven't updated in a while because I got a case of writer's block with all the things going on in the news about the coronavirus.
But I found that writing gives me comfort in these trying times. Be safe and take every precaution, the CDC says, by washing hands frequently and use sanitizer. Stay home until this virus is under control.
Also, this is my first story. I hope that you all like it. Please feel to give me your feedback. As you all know, taking the step actually to write a book is not an easy task.
I really loved creating the two main characters in this story. I was hoping you could stick with me and watch how the story unfolds and develops.
Furthermore, I've made some changes to the story; if you like it, press the like button and share.
I appreciate all of you who are coming along this( writing )journey with me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lucinda and Tyrone were the best of friends. They grew up near a rough neighborhood.
In the neighborhood adjacent to their neighborhood, crimes occurred daily, which would consist of robberies and drive-bys. But despite their many hardships, they both came from good families.
Lucinda was the only child of John and Belinda Jenkins. Belinda instantly became a single parent when her dear husband of eighteen years died suddenly of a fatal heart attack when her baby girl was only ten years old. Before his death, he had been a wonderful father and provider. He was a deacon at the local church, and he was the lead janitor at Harold Wigan's Elementary for twenty years. Her mother was a registered nurse for newborns. Lucinda was a daddy's girl, and his death took her into
a deep and dark depression. However, her best friend Ty, for as long as she could remember, helped her get through her depression.
Tyrone Davis lived next door. He was an only child too. He came from a two-parent home. His mother, Jacqueline Davis, was a stay-at-home mom, and his dad Harrison Davis was
assistant coach of the football team at the local middle school. Tyrone's house was Lucinda's second home.
Lucinda's mom and Tyrone's parents believed in education very much; they taught them the value and importance of good education when their kids were toddlers.
Lucinda and Tyrone were born on the same day. Belinda and Jacqueline worked at the same hospital that their kids were born in. They had so much in common because they both worked in healthcare. The Davis's had moved next door two years before Jacqueline had Ty. Belinda and Jacky had become best friends fast. However, Belinda went back to work, and Jacky decided to be a stay-at-home mom.

Present Day

Cinda and Ty were getting ready to start high school in a few months.
While Cinda was in deep thought about starting high school, there was a light tap on her window; she knew who it was instantly.

She went and opened the window and said,
"Hey, Ty. What's up? I thought that you were going to hang out with your teammates today?"

" I am I just wanted to come over and talk to you before I go." He stated as he climbed into her window.

" Did I say come in?" She said as she rolled her eyes at him. Ty knew she was playing with him because they were besties.

" You would not have opened your window if you didn't want me to come in." He shot back in a playful tone.

"You do get the point. " Then, out of nowhere, she busted out laughing. It didn't take him but a second to start laughing too.

" In all seriousness, what do you want to talk about?" She said in a soothing tone.

" You know we will be in high school soon, right?"
She nodded her head yes.

" And you know my big dream is to play in the NFL, right?" He stated in a serious tone.

" Of course, I know that boy. How long have we been besties?" She asked.

" Every since we were born, lol!
He stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

" We still have about a month left; why are you worried? Not to mention we have summer
break.

" Cinda, I'm a young male child, and we live in the hood. I feel like I have so much pressure on me my parents, peers, and society."

"Ty, why are you stressing yourself out about all of this? Be a teen, and don't worry about it."

" I get what you are saying, but for me to make it to the NFL, I gotta bring my "A" game. Sometimes I don't feel like I'm good enough."

" Ty, you have the support of your parents, you got good grades, you're the captain of the school football team, and you got me."

He looked at her and smiled.
" I know that, Cinda. Look at what's going on around me. My favorite cousin JayJay went back to juvy; his moma got back on drugs, and he got his girl pregnant. And to top it all off, my Dad is the new head coach of the football team at the high school we're going to. Wait! You are going to the same high school I'm going to, right?" He stated in a panicky tone.

" Ty, why would you ask me that? Where you go, I go. I'm yo ride or die. Not to mention they have a good pre-nursing program." She declared confidently.

He looked her straight in the eyes and said,
" Thanks for always being there for me and having my back. I love you, girl."

Lucinda's POV

I have been friends with Ty for a long time. I have always had much love for him in a brother-sister type of way. However, these feelings I have for him have taken an unexpected shift. And they're not " brother" friendly. I am in love with my bestie Tyrone Davis.
Ty is no longer the scrawny little kid next door.
Ty stood 6 feet tall, with dark brown skin, an oval-shaped face, hazel eyes, pearly white teeth, and dimples on both sides. He has the body of a fit football player. Not too skinny and not too big. And due to his rigorous workout, he already had a six-pack.
When he said he loved me, I didn't just hear it; I felt it.

" You know I got you. Now get yourself together; we got football practice to go to.
And Ty." She said in a serious yet playful tone.

" Yeah."

" I love you too. I'll meet you in twenty minutes." As they gave each other a quick hug. He left her room the same way he came.

Tyrone's POV
Ty thought to himself; it's getting really hard to stay in the friend zone with Cinda. I have been head over heels for her the moment I realized what a girl was.
What's not to like? Scratch that, love; I am in love with my bestie. Her voice is like music to my ears; she has beautiful light brown eyes, her skin is a caramel color, smooth, her shoulder-length hair was thick and wavy, and she was 52 inches tall. And her body was just perfect.
I am ready to ask her to be my girl, but I'm
going to wait until we start high school in a couple of months.

Lucinda met Ty in twenty minutes as she promised. Although football was over  Ty and his teammates practiced and they had good practice. Ty was excited to start football season in high school.  However, he knew pops was going to make him practice during Summer vacation.
He went to take a quick shower and put on his clothes fast. Ty was on a mission to find his number one. Lucinda. She was the girl of his dreams. He often thought to himself, how in the world did "I" get so lucky?
He saw her in the bleachers waving, and he practically ran to her.

" Hey Cinda, you ready to go?"

" Yep, I'm starving. So where are you taking me to eat?"Ty just stood there transfixed by her beauty. Lucinda finally put an end to the awkward moment by saying,

" Hello, is anybody home?" She thought to herself, what in the world is wrong with him? Because he is acting very weird/strange.

He cleared his throat abruptly and stated,
"Where do you want to go, it's my treat."

" In that case, let's go to that new pizza joint on 76 Street.

Hi guys, I know that the first chapter was a bit long. I think it needed to be written to introduce these amazing characters.
