Ch 17. Getting Advice From Watari

After my break down I tried to think of a way to confront L. I was scared of rejection but at the same time, I didn't want him to agree just to save my life. As I walked toward the main area I was hesitant to approach L without knowing how he would react.' I could just ask Watari. He knows L like the back of his hand.' I thought. As I entered a th room I noticed there were a lot of people talking to L.

"So were you actually planning to check all of the footage we got from Aoyama on the 22nd by yourself?" Aizawa asked incredulously. I rolled my eyes at the man as I looked around for Watari. Surprisingly Dad wasn't in the room, he must have gone and talked to Jack.

"That's right. I think it's very likely that Kira and the second Kira made contact with each other there on that day. So I wanted to check all these tapes personally." L deduced absentmindedly." Also, Mr. Yagami?"

"Oh, yes." Soichiro asked turning o L. I walked up to the conversation.

"Please ask Mr. Mogi to start following Light so we can keep tabs on what he's doing." L said calmly.

"You want him followed?" Soichiro asked a frustrated tone making itself known.

"That won't be necessary Ryuzaki." I spoke up looking straight at a slightly confused L.

"Why is that Ms. Yagami?" L asked in an annoyed tone. I winced slightly at the tone.

"I may have pretended to be Kira and got the notebook from the second Kira. I also know who she is, but I am unable to tell due to dafty reasons regarding her Shinigami." I said causing L's eyes to skyrocket.

"You. Did. What?!" a voice that belonged to a certain Time-Lord screeched behind me. I closed my eyes in defeat.' Well, I better ask Watari to plan my funeral.' I thought in despair.

TIME SKIP

I was able to convince dad and L to allow me to meet with the second Kira. I was told to bring a wire-tap and camera though. I was currently sitting on a bed in front of Misa. I was asking questions and she was answering them.

"So if a Shinigami has feelings for a human and kills someone else in order to extend the human's life beyond its natural end, the Shinigami will die?" I asked confirming what was said.

"That's right." Misa said cheerfully. I nodded knowing L had got the info.

"Thanks, Misa. I have to go know so nobody gets suspicious." I said noting the time on the clock, Misa nodded sadly but quickly smiled.

"Alright Tsuki! See ya!" Misa said cheerfully.

TIME SKIP

Task Force

"Hello." Light said as he came into the room. I could feel his frustrations at the fact he couldn't find Misa.

"Oh, come in. Your timing couldn't be better, actually. We just received a new video message from the second Kira." L said turning around to face Light.

"Huh? Wow, that didn't take long." Light said in a nervous tone.

"Yes. I believe it's the last one. Well, take a look at this." L said as he turned back and pressed play on the video.

"I decided to stop searching for Kira. Also, I'd like to thank the police department for their advice. However, I still plan to help Kira in his mission. And I hope that, in time, he'll come to see me as an ally. I will start by punishing criminals that Kira has yet to judge." The synthetic voice spoke as they relayed what I told them to.

As the vice finished I quietly left to look for Watari. I decided that I would try the kitchen since I often saw Watari bringing in food for L. I walked over to the kitchen in apprehension. I was scared to tell anyone let alone Watari who told L everything. I was relieved to see that the older man was in the kitchen.

"Hey, Watari? Could I have a moment of your time." I asked as I walked into the room. Watari looked slightly surprised but nodded at me.

"Of course, Tsuki. What may I help you with?" Watari asked curiously. I sat down on a stool and sighed.

"You know how The Doctor and I are Time-Lords?" I asked getting a nod from the man." Well, Time-Lords are a species that has what humans call soulmates. It is a process that bonds two Time-Lords to each other for life. I have bonded with someone and need your help."

Watari blinked in surprise at the blunt way I revealed the information. I almost giggled at the man's confused face but was able to hold it back. I watched as he seemed to think hard about why he was needed for something like this. After a few minutes, I saw his eyes widen in shock. I looked down as the man opened his mouth to speak.

"It's L, isn't it." Watari asked gently. I nodded slowly and heard Watari sigh.

"You realize L won't agree don't you." Watari asked softly. I looked up into the older man's eyes.

"That's what I need help with. If the bond is not completed both me and L will die." I revealed with a broken sob. Watari closed his eyes for a moment before nodding to himself.

"You want to know if L would be ok with making such a bond to save his life. You wouldn't even care if he didn't want to be with you." Watari whispered in realization. I nodded again to confirm the man's suspicion.

"Yes." I said firmly with determination.

"I suggest asking him your self. I realize you are willing to sacrifice your own happiness to keep L alive. I will talk to him after you." Watari said softly. I smiled at the man and nodded.

"Watari, thank you." I whispered. The older man just smiled and turned to leave.
