"Grannie was it two cups of flour, or three?" I called out from the kitchen. I had just started to make cookies, but I can never seem to remember the measurements.
"I think it's three, I can't remember" grannie said. Grannie was a forgetful person some times, so I shrugged it off and just did two cups. My grannie's been raising me since my parents had separated, and couldn't take care of me. Now I'm 22, years old and I don't take crap from no one!
Couldn't have done it without my grandma of course, she's taught me a lot of things in my life, and the number one thing she's taught me was to never let someone tell me what to do, and who to be.
I heard grannie get a notification from her phone.
She picked it up and gasped with shock and started to look for something.
"What's the matter grannie? Did you lose something?" I asked her, setting the wet ingredients to the side.
"Oh it's nothing munchkin, I just lost that damn tv remote!" She said looking both sides of the rocking chair. She got up and I laughed when I saw that she was sitting on it the whole time.
I watch her small, bony, wrinkly hands press power, and the sound of screaming and panic filled the rooms.
It was a news report of people running around screaming. I wipe my hands and walk in, and watch as well.
".. there is an outbreak of supernatural humans flying around *where you live*, currently. We don't know if it's happening anywhere else, but they sure are causing some trouble. Please take shelter if you haven't already, and hide in your homes!" And right as the news reporter said that the tv, and power shut off.
Grannie and I look at each other with panic, and shock as we hear distant screaming outside.
"Come on grannie, we need to hide!" I said helping her out of her chair. As I helped her up there was a massive explosion near us. The house shook: sending grannie and I tumbling to the ground.
"Shit! What in fucks name was that?" Grannie yelled.
"Come on grannie, we need to hide" I said helping her up. I limp us towards the basement door, and head down, into the cold dark room. I set her down into a chair, and I grab a flash light from the shelf behind her.
"Are you ok grannie? Is your knee ok?" I asked, flashing the light down to her knee.
"It's fine child, don't worry about me" she coughed.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to grab supplies, you stay right here" I said running up the stairs.
I grab some snacks from the pantry, and some waters. I run into the bathroom real quick and ran the first aid kit, and I exit out into the living room, grabbing blankets as well, and a kitchen knife for protection.
I run down stairs and lock the door behind me.
"Okay I have some stuff that should keep us going for a couple hours, hopefully this doesn't last forever" I said putting things down.
"Man, look how you've grown" grannie said almost crying. I look up to see that she had pulled over a box, and had a Polaroid picture of when I was in 3rd grade.
"Remember this? It was finger painting day, and you said look grannie, I drew a flying platypus!" She chuckled. I smiled as I remembered those days, of when things were simple.
"Grannie you sure do know how to find light in all this darkness" I chuckled. That's what my grannie was always good at. She always knew how to make things better, even if we are in some war.

Grannie and I had laid out some old blankets and pillows, and took a nap, when we suddenly heard stomping come from the upstairs.
I sit up, hyperventilating as I try to find the flashlight around me. "G-grannie! I think they're here!" I whisper yelled, waking up grannie. She sits up and holds my hand tight.
The ceiling started to tremble a little as they stomped around, breaking stuff, and yelling. Until they stopped. Grannie and I freeze up,1's pray that they didn't see the basement door. Boy was I wrong.
The door was kicked open, and it flung out, tumbling down the stairs. I grab the kitchen knife and stand up, guarding grannie, as I see the tall creepy figure jump down here.
It had.. wings and some really sharp teeth. "Oh ho ho hooo! Looky looky at this cookie! Masters definitely gonna wanna see you" it said.
"Go away!" I said. He laughed a sinister laugh, and he sprinted towards me, and without hesitation and I spring the knife Into his tummy. He stops and looks down at his belly, then at me. He very slowly opened his mouth to reveal his yellow and sharp teeth.
"Looks like we got a fighter" he laughed, and he swung me over his shoulders.
"Hey! Put me down!!" I cried.
"You put her down!" Grannie said struggling to get up.
"Say bye bye grannie!" The demon laughed.
"Grannie!!" I yelled out as he sprinted out side.
"Stop it! Put me down!! Let me go!!" I fought.
"Hold on princess, this is gonna be a little fast trip" he laughed spreading his wings.
"W-Wait, What are you-" And before I knew it, i was up in the air. Flying through the sky. I looked at my home, and see that all of its was on fire, houses were destroyed, demons flying up with people on their backs.
What the hell god?
