But, it wasn't until he heard a few choked-up sobs begin to emit from Seulgi that he kicked into action as fast as he could.
"Seulgi, listen to me." In attempt to comfort her, he rose to his feet and kneeled down before her. Because her face was shoved into the palms of her hands, he took her wrists in his grasp and pulled them away in an effort for her to meet his gaze. It deeply pained him to survey her precious features being obscured by the countless tears that managed to escape her eyes and stream down her cheeks. He bit down on the inside of his lip, feeling his heart drop at the amount of hurt that was evident in her eyes, in which he looked so deeply into.
He lifted both of his hands to cup her cheeks, and as gently as he could, he wiped away every single tear that he was capable of catching.
"You know, I've never dealt with anything of the sort, nor do I know exactly what you're feeling inside, but I know that he isn't worth any of your tears. " He searched her eyes with his until he was successful. Once her sobbing had come to a gradual halt, he brushed back any strands of hair that had stuck to her cheeks and her jawline, due to the moisture that her sadness infused. "Do you hear me?"
She sniffled and exhaled shakily. To offer a sense of comfort that she desperately needed, he took both of her hands in his. She squeezed in appreciation, the saddest and weakest smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
That's a start, he thought.
"I know, I shouldn't cry, but I can't help that I'm hurt, Taehyung."
"He's an asshole for hurting you, especially on a day that was supposed to mean so much. I understand." Taehyung swallowed the ball that formed in his throat. In a way, he was hurt, too. Although it played a huge part, he didn't know if the cause was strictly Seulgi's emotionally broken state or something of the other as well. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Of course, you can."
He licked his lips, stood up on two feet, and sat beside her, once more. He was orginally filled with slight hesitance, but he overcame it. He stared at his right hand still linked with hers, conjuring up the right way to present his thoughts.
"Why did he do that?" He muttered, refusing to make eye-contact with her as he added, "I thought you two were going strong or whatever, even though its only been a couple of weeks."
"Ask him," although she was broken, another violent emotion shrouded her tone instead. It was caged-anger and frustration. "He didn't say much. Correction: he didn't type much, but the fact that he didn't feel the same anymore. Even then, that's fucking nothing."
"What a dick; he did it over text?" Taehyung scoffed, clenching his jaw. "That's equivalent to saying nothing, yes."
"He did a great job at avoiding me all day, that's for sure. I wanted to say something to his face, but for some reason, I couldn't. I refused to enhance the probability of breaking down in front of him, like some weakling. I hate that shit."
Taehyung smiled a smidge.
"I know, you do."
"But, what the hell? Who does that to someone? It's Valentine's Day, couldn't he have done that tomorrow? Or, three days ago? How about never approaching me if I was going to be used in the end? It only wasted my fucking time."
He gave her small hand a squeeze, attempting to relax her ticked-off nerves. She only swore when she was furious or irritated.
"That's true, but I think if he informed you tomorrow or yesterday, it'd all be the same. It would've hurt either way, Seul."
"I guess so, but fuck, everything about it just pisses me off."
"I hear you." Taehyung wished he could tell her what she needed to hear, but he didn't know what that exactly was. It was difficult to cough stuff up that relates to a subject in which you have no previous knowledge in. "Look at it this way: at least now you know that he's a douche, and you can begin the process of forgetting about him."
