Her silence caused him to continue in a playful manner:
"Plus, your sadness is really making others aware. Even Seungwan and some of the others asked me what's up with you today. And, to be frank, it's quite suffocating, so if you'd like to take some advice from your bestest friend, I'd advise you to lighten up."
Crossing her arms over her chest, Seulgi snapped. "I can't, don't you see that?"
Taehyung flinched at not only her fiery tone, but her intense gaze that withheld the same energy. It'd burn a hole right through him like a pair of laser beams if it had the ability to.
"Geez, you really are pissed, huh?" He was only joking with his last statement, and since she knows of his playful tendencies, he expected her to smile a little at his words, but it seemed that she was in more of a horrible mood than he originally hypothesized. "What the hell happened?"
Seulgi sighed. "Tae, do you even realize what day it is?"
"Huh?" He was now confused. "It's Friday, of course I know what day it is."
"No, the day."
"Oh, it's February 14th, what about it?"
"God, you're extra clueless today, aren't you?" Her frown deepened at the mention of the special day. "It's Valentine's Day."
He was silent for a moment with only an idle thought that hung in his mind:
Did he hurt her?
Taehyung cleared his throat, growing a little uncomfortable with the topic of the subject, but he shrugged it off. His bestfriend was in distress, after all. There was no time to be selfish and think about himself. His gentle tone shifted into concern, and now, he was more cautious of his word-choice.
His eyebrows drew forward in worry, disbelief, and slight anger, before asking:
"He broke up with you?"
Seulgi guffawed, but instead of in humor, it was bitter. Cold, dry, and hostile. He figured his query was careless, or almost stupid due to the circumstances at hand. Originally, he pondered if he shouldn't have even mentioned the harsh question.
His subconcious scoffed and emitted, why else would she be so upset on a day like today? Of course, he hurt her.
That was the only response he received from Seulgi. He expected her to continue, busting out into an in-depth rant about the confliction between her and Jimin, but nothing else came. It was silent. It wasn't awkward, but it surely was concerning in Taehyung's mind. He has never seen his bestfriend so heartbroken in the many years he's known her.
Perhaps the only moment he could muster was when one of her cats had died, but even then, she was strong. Always. He admired that about her.
Though, it was a day like today, while Seulgi was upset over a stupid boy, that it finally occurred to Taehyung; they were growing much older.
It scared him.
How time flies and things can change.
Taehyung flicked his incoming thoughts and reminiscent memories away, almost falling into an emotional state himself. But, again, there was no time for that; he had to worry about Seulgi. He mentally bashed himself for not bothering to ask his bestfriend why she had been so down, until now.
He fiddled his thumbs, as he, too, stared off into space, but his mind wasn't empty at all. He didn't know what to say, as he's never had to comfort Seulgi over a breakup before, nor has she had to do the same for him. And, for once, he felt helpless.
