"CASSIE, C'MON! THE LINE UP IS GETTING LONGER!", Gabriel Novak, screeched loudly from across the fairgrounds.
Castiel was wearing his usual school uniform attire and he had just recently purchased a new pair of black thick rimmed frames.
He stood awkwardly by a striped fortune teller tent, as he gazed up entranced by the countless amounts of stars in the sky, tonight.
"CAS, ARE YOU COMING OR WHAT?!", shouted one of his sisters.
It was Hael.
She was wearing a polka dotted dress with red heels, that kept sinking into the muddy ground.
Her jet black hair was done up in a high ponytail, and she was still wearing the stage make-up, from her performance earlier that evening.
Hael Novak, was going to be an actress.
Star in movies and go to Hollywood.
At least, that's what she had constantly told her family ever since she could talk.
Castiel shook his head, and she pouted at him.
"WHY NOT?!", she yelled over the din of the music and sounds around them.
Cas shrugged.
Truth was, he really didn't have a reason not to go on the Ferris wheel.
He just didn't really feel in the mood for it.
Hael rolled her eyes, then began walking over towards her brother, heels still sinking into the mud, with a strange sucking sound.
"Why not?", she said again, now much closer.
Castiel stared at the ground, trying to think of a better reason.
If only an excuse.
"I think I'm still a little hungover from last night."
She cocked her head to the side, staring at him with a confused expression.
"From what? You never drink."
Cas slapped himself in the forehead.
"Sh*t! I forgot. Well, I'm not feeling very well. I think I've got the flu or something. Feel my forehead, Hael. I think I'm burning up."
She laughed, slapping him, lightly.
"Oh, quit it you! You're not sick, you're just being a big chicken and don't wanna ride on the Ferris wheel with us!"
He sighed, defeated.
"Alright, you caught me. But, do I have to? Can't I just watch you guys?"
She shook her head, her greyish blue eyes bright with excitement.
"No way, you just graduated. You are SO going up there!"
Well after many attempts and Michael finally dragging Cas, kicking and screaming hysterically towards the Ferris wheel, they eventually got him into a seat and they themselves jumped into seats too.
Gabriel and Castiel were in the same seat, and he kept rocking it back and forth.
"Gabe, would you please stop that? You're making me nervous!"
But, Gabriel just laughed, as he began to rock the seat faster and faster.
Cas cringed, as he swallowed down the bile in his throat.
The ride hadn't even started yet.
Hael and Rachel were in another seat, excitingly chatting about her performance and how the manager of a famous theatre company had offered Hael a job, that she could start next year, after her graduation.
And in another seat, Michael and Lucifer were discussing which team had actually won the football game at the university they both attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Novak, were the only ones of the Novak family who weren't about to ride the Ferris wheel.
They were off somewhere, no doubt talking with some of their high-class friends.
That left Rachel and Zachariah, who had just finished their final years of university, and we're now off with some friends of theirs, touring South Africa for the year.
When, Dean first saw Cas, it was after Cas' first go-round of the Ferris wheel.
He had been casually walking around, playing practical jokes on people as he went, his friend and his brother, following right behind him.
"So, what now?", he asked them, as they walked past a water-balloon dart game and a hotdog stand.
Crowley shrugged, and then started pointing double guns at some girls who were walking by.
Sam rolled his eyes, pretending to be immersed in the candy apple he was currently eating.
Truth was, it tasted like sh*t.
Ugh, how could people make candy taste so bad?!
"How's Lise?", Crowley asked, looking at Dean as they now walked, on either side of him.
Dean sighed, throwing both his hands up in the air.
"How am I supposed to f**king know?! She doesn't ever call me anymore. I think she's seeing someone else..."
Sam and Crowley nodded, they understood how Dean felt about the topic of 'Lisa Braeden'.
It was better not to say anything at all about it.
They kept walking and were just about to actually consider going into the fortune teller tent, when something happened.
"Oh! I didn't see you there!", a rough voice said.
Dean rubbed his head, waving his apology off.
"It's okay. I guess it's my fault."
The guy shook his head, disagreeing.
"No, it's not. It's mine. I'm sorry."
Dean shrugged.
"Don't mention it."
The guy who had dark hair and bright blue eyes, smiled then, as he straightened his uniform tie and quickly fixed his ruffled up hair.
It was then that Dean noticed the black thick rimmed frames, laying on the ground beside his feet.
"I think you dropped these.", he told the guy, stooping down to pick up the glasses.
He smiled and nodded.
"Yes, thank you."
Dean chuckled slightly.
"Don't mention it."
Cas nodded again, unsure who this guy even was, but darn grateful that he'd picked up his glasses.
After all, he had just got those and wasn't about to lose them, again.
Castiel looked back over his shoulder, he saw Hael waving frantically for him to come over, so they could board the Ferris wheel, again.
"Well, I must be going. It was nice meeting you..."
"Dean. The name's Dean. Dean Winchester."
For some odd reason, Cas' face suddenly felt hot at that.
"Right. It was nice meeting you, Dean Winchester."
Dean smiled, agreeing.
"Yeah, it was nice meeting you too..."
"Castiel. My name is Castiel Novak."
"Okay, it was nice meeting you too, Castiel Novak."
Cas then waved and began to walk away from Dean, his heart suddenly pounding loudly against his ribcage.
He brushed it off as nervousness from having to go on the ride again, and climbed into a seat this time right beside Hael.
She smiled, flashing two bright rows of perfectly white teeth, against the scarlet red of her lipstick.
"Who were you talking to?"
He sighed, running his fingers along the metal safety bar.
"No one."
She laughed.
"No one. Huh? Well, for 'no one' you seemed pretty into it. He a friend of yours?"
Cas shook his head, letting her know that no, he wasn't.
She grinned.
"Well, maybe he will be."
Castiel didn't think so.
He didn't have time for that sort of thing.
All he had time for was, applying to the nearest university that taught med students, and hoping against hope, that he'd get in.
There was nothing else that mattered to him.
Just that, and he was going to keep it that way.
"No Hael, you know what mother would say if I did that?"
She laughed, nodding as she imitated their mother Angela Novak's voice.
"Now Castiel, what have I told you about interacting with the middle-class! Don't you have ANY respect for this family?! You should, your father works SO hard to provide for us all! Why must you be so rebellious?! Can't you be like your brothers and sisters and just except the facts?!"
Cas was howling with laughter, when she finished her animated reenactment of their mother's usual spiel, so much so, he thought that he'd end up falling out of his seat.
"You portray her so well. Tell me, have you been studying her or something?"
Hael shook her head, high ponytail bouncing as she did so.
"Nope, I just know how she acts to most things. Call it instinct."
Castiel nodded and straightened his black thick rimmed frames, which had gone lopsided on his face.
His younger sister smiled happily back at him, as they felt the wheel slowly start to turn.
They shouted in unison, as their feet left the ground, and they began slowly but steadily going up to the top.
Cas felt the wind whip through his hair in the gusts of wind.
Saw Hael's ponytail flap hazardously about on top of her head, and then fall back down, as they finally reached the top.
Castiel and her were just admiring the view of the fairgrounds from up above when, a familiar voice shouted up at them from below.
"HEY CAS!"
Cas looked down reluctantly and saw Dean Winchester standing right there, smiling up at him and waving, ecstatically.
Oh, no.
He thought, as Dean began to step a little bit closer to the spoked contraption.
"HEY CAS! LOOK!", he shouted again, placing a foot on the nearest spoke and hoisting himself up as he did so.
Castiel Novak, looked in horror at the sight.
He was climbing the f**king Ferris wheel!
What the actual f**k?!
With shaking hands, Cas gripped the metal safety bar tighter, as he shouted a string of profanities at Dean, who was in fact still climbing.
"Are you f**king stupid?! Get the f**k down, before you f**king kill yourself! You stupid f**k! I'm not gonna f**king save you, if you suddenly f**king fall!"
Dean shrugged, smiling as he got closer to where Castiel sat.
"WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?!", he suddenly yelled at him, through the loud whipping winds.
Cas was taken aback, but quickly shook his head, trying to ignore the hot-feeling in his cheeks again.
"NO, WHY THE F**K WOULD I DO THAT?!", he yelled back, his glasses fogging up from the strong winds, as their seat started rocking back and forth.
Dean gave him a sad expression and pouted.
"WHY NOT?!"
Castiel sighed.
Clearly, this guy didn't know who he was speaking with.
"CAUSE, MY PARENTS WOULD NEVER APPROVE OF YOU AND I'M NOT EVEN GAY!"
Dean didn't look convinced.
He smirked, knowingly.
"OH, REALLY?! WELL, THAN EXPLAIN YOUR BLUSHING RIGHT NOW!"
Cas cursed under his breath at that.
This guy was becoming a real pain in the a**!
Castiel shook his head.
"I DON'T WANNA GO OUT WITH YOU! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Dean was now directly in front of him, hanging on to the last spoke at the very top, for dear life.
He sighed, eyes cast downward.
"Well then, I guess I'm just gonna have to-"
He let go of the spoke with one arm and started to let go of it with the other.
"NO, DON'T DO THAT! DON'T F**KING KILL YOURSELF! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!", he shouted, voice hoarse.
Dean looked sadly up at him, his eyes flashed a bright green in the now complete darkness.
"It is if you won't go out with me..."
Cas sighed.
What was he supposed to do?
He couldn't just let this guy die?!
No, he'd have to act fast.
"OKAY! OKAY! I'LL DO IT! I'LL GO OUT WITH YOU! JUST PLEASE GET THE F**K DOWN BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND!"
Dean grinned.
Then, he jumped in an instant to the ground below, landing perfectly on his feet like a cat.
F**king b*****d!
Stupid horrible f**king b*****d!
"He's gonna pay for this.", Cas muttered quietly, under his breath.
Hael, who was still beside him, gave him a confused look and he shrugged.
He sighed.
"The guy was gonna die!"
She nodded, smiling at him.
"Have fun on your date!"
"Shut up!"
"Make me!"
Cas groaned.
Eventually, they got off the Ferris wheel and Cas was able to have a few words with Dean.
Later, they finally left, Cas saying that this whole thing was stupid and that he really wished he hadn't agreed to it, and Dean grinning like a madman because he couldn't believe that his diabolical plan had actually worked.
And even later, when Dean insisted that they lie in the middle of the road and just talk for a while.
"ARE YOU F**KING CRAZY!", Castiel yelled.
Dean laughed and nodded.
"Maybe I am."
"What if a car comes? Then, what?"
Dean sighed, as he lay beside Cas on the pavement, their fingertips almost touching.
"We die.", he said, matter-of-factly.
Castiel sat up, having thought that he probably heard that wrong.
"We...die?"
Dean smiled, closing his eyes.
He nodded.
"We. Die."
