"MINGKWAN!!!" The roar came over the phone loud and clear. "YOU GO PICK UP OUR CHILDREN RIGHT NOW!!!"

Ming winced and looked at the time. It was almost 8 and the daycare closed in like 5 minutes!

"Why the fuck are you not moving? Move your ass!"

"I'm moving Kit! Fuck. I'm moving as we speak!"

"Don't you dare curse at me!" Kit knew his husband so well that he could predict his every move.

The door opened and Nick walked in with a very exhausted looking Mick and a sleeping Aria on his shoulder. About a week ago, Nick had been added to the approved list of people who could collect the kids. It was a good thing too because Kit had managed to reach him before he could get Ming.

"Nick just walked in with the kids." Ming informed as he asked by mime if they ate. Nick nodded and placed a take out bag on his desk. He knew Ming hadn't eaten either.

"You fucking lucky son of a bitch. I can't believe you!"

"I'm sorry Kit! I really am. I'll try to do better." Extreme exhaustion coloured his voice so it came across weak and almost like he wanted to weep.

"Every time you have a major project, this happens. I know my job is demanding but I try. You can do the same too. Or at least make the effort to reach out to someone! You could have called Mae! Or Mom! Either would have rushed to pick them up and kept them for the night!"

"Your right." Ming closed his eyes and knew immediately it was a huge mistake. He could barely make them open again.

"Go home Ming. Go rest. You need it. This is getting crazy. You can't be sacrificing your health like this to the point where you slip back into these bad habits. I understood earlier. We were new to parenthood. We're not anymore. We don't want to be those parents whose kids only remember them as the people who rushed to pick them up at daycare, only to drop them off somewhere else. Do you want them to only remember our backs?"

"That's unfair Kit!" That last bit made Ming open his eyes and he sat up, suddenly angry.

"Good that you finally opened your eyes again. Now eat the bloody trash food that Nick just dumped on your desk and take our kids home. Please. Get someone to drop you."

Kit put down the phone then just put his head on his desk. He had been at the hospital for his second of three days and had gotten a very worried call from the day care asking when someone was going to collect the kids. It was the last thing he was expecting and to be honest he was freaking shocked because it was so hard to reach him here at the hospital.

Ming hadn't done this in a long time. Kit knew the race to have the perfect hybrid formula 1 race car was important using the famous smart engine but the fact that his husband suffered so much because of this dumb race just made him frustrated. The last time, Ming had given himself an ulcer and despite the drastic changes he made to keep himself healthy, he was slipping back into old habits.

Ming looked at Nick and sighed. "I'm sorry you came all the way in here but I think we need to be home. Do you mind giving us a ride?"

"Sure." Nick shrugged then remembered Aria. She didn't even wake.

"Also thanks for the food, but I think I'm going to eat something proper at home."

"It's about time. I was starting to wonder if your stomach was made of oil and salt." That made Ming grimace. He stood and reached out for Mick who looked at him reproachfully but took his hand anyway.

"How was school?" He asked, trying to build back the bit of lost faith his son was showing him.

"I have math homework." Oh shit. Mick hated math and now when they got home, he would have to find the energy to do homework.
