Too Many People Are Living A Farce

Lane bit her nails as she sat at the cafe waiting. She had come here to meet a fellow nurse and a close friend. Truthfully she had 4 friends at the hospital and when she rose to the matron position, she would promote them also. They had it all planned out clearly, when the time for promotion came, who would be first, who would be responsible for what and so on. There was no doubt in her mind that things would go as planned. 

"Hey! Did you order for me?" The sudden voice made Lane start hard.

"What? Oh no. I haven't even ordered for myself. I'm only having water right now. Sorry. I've just been so frustrated." She looked up at the cute pixie face of one of her best friends and sighed.

Tina sat with a sigh of her own and gave Lane a sympathetic look. "He's a man honey. He may not see reason now but just be patient. Eventually he'll conform to reasoning and do what you want. Here, did you want your usual?" The server had appeared since he noticed Tina join the table.

"Yes please." Lane sighed but she still bit her lip and stared out the window. Tina smiled softly at her and rubbed her hand in comfort. 

"Pink was saying I should mess with his condoms." Lane said suddenly after the orders had been taken.

"No! Absolutely not! He'll know and he will use it against you. Don't slip him anything either. Some people remember the next day and then you don't want to overdose him. Suthee has potential but there are a couple of other doctors who can get you where you want to be. Anyway, here. I took these pictures while sitting on the other side of him yesterday. Look at the name of the person he is texting."

"What! Why didn't you tell me sooner!?" Lane grabbed the phone and enlarged the image. 

"Nicky?" She said slowly and looked up at Tina who nodded. 

"I was sitting behind him and they were talking on the phone. Then Suthee hung up and he started texting. I noticed he was texting the same person whose name he just called and thought it was odd so I faked a selfie and took a pic really quick."

"The top message here says something about work_ and Ming? Is that Ming's name here?"

"Hummmm. I think so. Maybe he's someone close to that group like Suthee is?"

"Maybe. Maybe I'm over thinking this?" Lane looked to Tina for some reassurance.

"They sure talk a lot for casual friends though. They talk every day Lane and I bet they text a lot too. If this person knows Ming then I bet he's as gay as the rest of them." Tina was always brutally honest in a way that Lane hated yet appreciated.

Lane's face twisted into a horrible look. She was not one of those people why supported the Alphabet League. Tina sighed again, clearly knowing what she was thinking. "If he wants to take dick then he's not deserving of you. Listen to me Lane. There are other doctors that can help us. The new Dr. Bishop is very interested in you and his father is on the hospital board."

"I don't like him. He undresses me with his eyes and recently cornered me in one of the supply rooms but when I freaked out he backed off."

"What! When did this happen?!" Tina's mouth dropped open, her eyes wide in shock.

"When was I last at work? Then. I told Matron. She sat me down with a cup of warm tea. I told her I was scared to pursue it but she made me fill out a form and put one of those online notes up so if it happens again, the record is there. Then she pulled up the CCTV and made a copy." Lane said the last sentence with a quiet and intense hiss.

Lane stared at Tina whose eyes widened in shock. "She can do that? Access the CCTV? Oh wow!"

"Imagine if we could hack that shit!" Lane was extremely excited. She had been thinking about this for a while. The things that she would be able to access. The secrets she could use!
