Chapter 1

I was sitting in my at my desk in my room, working on an essay for history class. My door opened. Mom stepped in. "Freddie, I'm working late again tonight. Could you watch Shawn?"

I opened my mouth to respond but she continued. "Wait, aren't you going out tonight?" I returned to my work.

I was supposed to be getting ready for my "Fun Night" as mom called it with Tony but he cancelled. "Oh, he cancelled. He said he had something important to work on, so he's busy."

I shrugged. "Oh, that's okay. At least I don't have to be worried about you tonight." She sighed.

I rolled my eyes with a smirk, turning to face her.

But my sharp eye caught something silvery on her neck buried underneath her blazer. Mom rarely wears necklaces or anything fancy.

Does she have a date? If so who is he?

Quickly throwing those thoughts into the trash bin. "So, what's the occasion?" I asked smoothly.

She waved her hand. "It's just a office party. It's one of my co-workers' birthday." I nodded.

"I'm running late. Dinner is Chinese, and make sure Shawn finishes his homework. I'll be back soon." She closed the door.

"Bye, have fun." I calls after her.

I returned to my own work with a sigh.

A/N: Welcome back everyone! I'm excited to be back writing this sequel (or writing in general) I apologize for the wait. Burnout is my biggest foe at the moment. We've all been there.

But it's also a tiny fear that it's not gonna be 'good enough' so I'm going to remove this fear by writing this story exactly according to my previous book and what I see in my mind's eye you might want to refresh your memory by reading a few chapters from the last book.

There'll be a few good changes I've made and after I've completely published the entire book, I'll be tweaking up both the original book and the sequel, so please bear with me if you happen to see any typos, grammar errors.
