I walked into school, eyes searching for my best friends, though only one was supposed to be here as the other had parents who were trying to spend more time with their darling Layla, so they are making her take a week off before going back to school, lucky right?

I finally found who I was looking for,

"Katie!" I yelled and ran to give her a hug, this sweet moment soon turned bitter as the principle ruined it,

"Come with me Ashley. You have detention remember?" He said and I immediately groaned. How was this fair?

"Hold on" I said and turned back towards Katie

"So? How bad was your summer?" She asked and I signed

"Spent it at my Uncles place, you?" I asked her as my mood immediately dampened.

"Why?" She deadpanned and I sighed again

"The whole thing with my parents, I couldn't handle it. Plus you know Uncle Zack is like a brother to me. It seemed safer to stay with him. He's actually coming to teach this year for whatever reason." I said and her face lit up leaving me confused

"There's supposed to be three new teachers and your hot uncle is one of them! Dude!" She nearly shouted and I giggled, she's always had a crush on my uncle Zack since he's close in age range to us

"Firstly. Gross. Don't call my uncle hot, secondly. There's two others?" I asked and she laughed

"Yeah. Maybe Uncle Zack knows them?" She said and I shrugged. Could be possible

I gave her one last hug before walking off with the principle, Mr. Jones.

"So," he paused as we sat down in his office, him in his chair, me in the one across from him and on the other side of his desk.

"So," I repeated nonchalantly. I already knew what he was going to ask and I didn't want to discuss the matter.

"How are things at home?" He asked with a caring tone and I sighed

"They're fine." I said calmly

"Ashley, you really expect me to believe that? If you haven't forgotten your uncle will be working here this year, don't think I haven't discussed your home life with him," Mr. Jones spoke so calmly, awaiting  reaction.

"I know Zack better than you ever will. He wouldn't talk about my home life without my say so," I said and he nodded

"Very well. But I do know that you have been staying with him this summer?" He said and I nodded and kept my eyes glued to the floor

"Why?" He pressed

"It's none of your god damn business!" I nearly shouted before walking out of his office and slamming the door, making my way to first period, which happened to be English and that I was thankful for.

I heard the office door open and Mr. Jones yelled out, "Don't forget you have detention during breaks, lunch and after school!" I grumbled profanities under my breath. You do one thing and suddenly it's a crime scene.

I walked into the room and noticed none of the students nor the teacher had arrived yet so I walked over and put my bag down beside a desk in the far back corner near the window and readjusted the black beanie on my head as I huffed out a breath and sat down.

Either Zack or the one of the other two new teachers should be arriving soon to this class, since last year our English teacher, well, she had gotten fired for being caught while getting it on with a student. Thankfully I'd never do that. Poor kid though..he didn't even fully know what was going on,
