Helpless {Chapter #2}

I blow the hot steam out of my face as I made my mothers favourite meal, beef stew. I saved up what little money me and my sister had and went to the market to buy some beef, all I can say is that 50 year old jerk holes don't seem keen on selling meat to a scrawny 8 year old.

Eh, never the less I got it in the end.

My thoughts came back as I heard Tilina scuffling around behind me in an effort to lay the table. "Need some help?" I said turning around the spoon still in my hand. "oh uh... nah im fine" "pfft, I find that hard to believe" I said rolling my eyes. She puffed out her chest in defence "Hey! what makes you think that?"

"Your tip toeing because your not tall enough to reach the table and there and forks and spoons lying around on the floor. Its pretty obvious"

"Humf, just keep cooking ok?" she mumbled, "ha ha, ok fine" I said turning around and mixing the stew one more time to keep it hot.

A few hours later

I start to pour the stew into the four bowls on the kitchen desk. "Hey Tilina?" I asked, still pouring the soup. "HAI!"  she shouted back, "haha very funny Tilina but really, can you do me a favour?" "Sure sis!" she said running up to my side, "Can you go check outside if the scouts have returned?" "Uh ok!" She ran to the door and slipped on her shoes, "I'll be back soon!"

I put down the ladle and carried the bowls to the table one at a time, I poured the rest of the remaining stew into the jug and placed it onto the side table. Then proceeded to wipe the kitchen.

It had been a while and Tilina still wasn't back. Me being me, the overprotective sister, I went to go find her. I was about to grab the keys when Tilina swung open the door with a grim expression on her face. "Tilina?! What happened?! Why did you take so long? I was worried!" She caught her breath and looked up at me "Mum..... and dad... weren't there..." I dropped the keys "WHAT." "Mum and dad weren't there." She replied calmly. 

My hands started to shake, cold sweat droplets formed on my face "Did... are.... are they reported missing or dead?" Tilina shrugged "I didn't see Levi's squad at all, relax I think they are late, that's all" I wiped my for head "fucking hell Tilina you scared me shit-less" "Don't swear!" Tilina said covering her mouth.

I sat down at the table with the ready made beef stew, "I guess they will have to eat the rest when they come back." I mumbled. Tilina walked up and sat beside me "Its ok Mira, Mum and Dad will come back tomorrow, don't you worry"

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes as I stared out of the window, "No sun yet? jeez not this early" I flopped back down onto my pillow, "I should check if mum and dad are home..." But I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep instead. 

I woke to the sound of shouting and people hitting wood "The fuck..?" I crawled out of bed and walked down the stairs "Hello...?!" I shouted, no reply. "If your trying to rob my house I will fuck you up understand?!" I heard laughter. Wait.... laughter?! I opened the door to find two military police standing above me with cocky grins "Well hello there" One of them said. He was scruffy with black messy hair and dark brown eyes. "Are you the oldest daughter of Alice Yasuki and Luka Yasuki?" This guy was blond with a really stupid looking under cut and blue eyes. "Well?" he said nudging me "We haven't got all day"

"Uhhhhh...."

What are they doing here? What do they want? Did I do something wrong?

"Look kid lets not waste time all right?" With that he shoved me out they way and they both walked into the house and started looking around in the kitchen and living room. I finally bubbled up the courage to speak "What the FUCK are you doing here?!" One of them looked at me then stood up and started walking up the stairs, I ran to him and pulled his jacket "Look dumb ass I asked you a question!" He just pushed me aside like a rag doll. "HEY!" I shouted at the other man. "This is MY house and I have the right to know what your doing here!" Then I heard a scream.
