"Thank you." I mumbled and all he did is smile yet it was more than enough to make me feel glad. Jaemin told me stories that are funny and educational at the same time.
"I bet if it's Jeno who told you those things, it won't be funny." He laughs.
"Meanie." I laughed.
After eating ice cream, Jaemin and I walked back to my hideout. The grey clouds hovering over the sky as we walk and I became worried about Jaemin getting soaked once the rain falls down but I didn't bother to tell him.
"I haven't prepared a gift, I'm sorry." He said all of a sudden. I looked at him weirdly as I lightly hit him on his arm.
"It's alright." I said. "I don't need material things. Your smile, your laugh and you're presence are great gifts already."
Jaemin looked at me in the eyes as his lips slowly curled up into a smile. "Then I'll always smile for you."
"Stop that." I looked away. "That's not healthy for my heart."
A pair of arms wrapped around me, startling me when I saw Jaemin hugging me. "Aigoo, my little dove looks so cute."
I cringed at his words.
His phone suddenly vibrated, making him groan and pull away from the hug. He took out his phone and answered the call. I found out that it was Jisung when Jaemin turned the phone to me, flashing Jisung's face who insisted to have video call.
"Happy birthday Iris!" Jisung exclaimed over the phone. "I wanted to come and celebrate your birthday with you but Jaemin hyung locked me inside my room saying that I'll steal you from him." His statement caused me to look at Jaemin who just shrugged in return.
"Let's just celebrate it next time, Jisungie." I said which made him to grin.
"Noo!" Jaemin whined and was about to end the call when I took it from him. He was about to take it back when I pouted, stopping his action and making him still.
"Jaemin hyung is so whipped." Jisung laughed. "Iris! I have something to say."
Jaemin got interested on what his dongsaeng was talking about. He moved closer and looked at the phone.
"What is it?"
"I like coffee but I like you a latte too!" Jisung said cutely and of course, I cringed while Jaemin got excited.
"But Jisung you don't like coffee." I said.
"I don't like coffee but I like you." Jisung said back and right away, Jaemin pressed the end button.
I laughed at him while he pouted. "I told you he'll take you away from me."
I reached my hand to touch his hair. I gently stroked his soft hair as I smile at him. "Thank you for today."
"You don't need to thank me." He said. "You're special to me and making you happy makes me happy as well."
Just then, the rain started falling down. I panicked but Jaemin took my hand and ran under the rain, not really seeking for a shelter, but to enjoy my favorite phenomena.
"The sky is greeting you a happy birthday." He said and my heart smiled. "Happy birthday again, Iris."
For the first time I realized what's special with birthdays. It's a day worth having fun because if that day didn't come, I wouldn't be able to meet great people like my friends and of course, my two favorite peopleㅡJaemin and Jisung. Even just for a day, I ran away from sadness because a specific someone took my hand and dragged me away from it. Although I might hate my next birthdays, I'm still thankful to be alive and witness the beauty in everything.

i wrote this chapter with the main purpose of expressing what i feel about this day. it's my birthday •ㅅ• and yet i don't feel happy or anything :< but i hope you'll enjoy this one!
i'm in the middle of reviewing for exams so i apologize if i won't update in the next few days. but i might update on jaemin's birthday which is only 4 days from now.
