Two Years Later

E M I L I A -

"Males are trespassing our borders as we speak; I think it would be best to lock them up, find the leader and question their means of crossing our borders immediately." Annabelle's swift, robotic voice fills the air and I swivel in my chair, not bothering to look up from the pack reports.

"That's a grand idea; too bad I have no means of speaking to anyone today. Lock them up, but don't have anyone on patrol do it, because that's how people sneak through our eyes, I'll interrogate them when I feel like it."

Nodding, she walks out the office, but not before saying the mandatory "Yes, Alpha."

It seems as if everyone has forgotten my name, Emilia - now it's become Alpha. I don't remember if this was the way it was when mom was Alpha.  I don't care either.

Hearing Annabelle shout out orders I refocus my attention back to the pack reports.

Things have last changed in the past two years, now that I'm in charge. I like having evidence and things written down on paper and backed up on a computer to monitor all the important stuff like injuries, money plans, provisions, contracts etc.

At the moment, I'm looking through the pack doctors reports. Casey is an amazing pack doctor and is more than willing to work at my new standards, not that she has a choice, not that any of them have a choice, but she was willing, and I like that.

There's been a minimal number of wolves sent to the doctor, since we've been having a peaceful two years, but I think the major injuries should be documented, in case of emergencies.

Annabelle was a little doubtful about my command and so were the Trackers and everyone else who held some kind of importance, but with everyone being important and all female, I didn't have to speak twice.

Men today work mostly as cleaners. I myself, am not so degrading towards men, but I make sure they all know that they are beneath us and that they will stay that way until changed. I like to give everyone the free will to choose their own destiny, so there are some men as Trackers and on patrol but that's about it.

Name: Gwen Hill

D.O.B: 05/29/63

Mate:  Harold Hill (Deceased a day after Gwen's death)

Children: Karen Hill

Scoffing, I threw the packet on the table and looked at the maps of where I intended to gain more land for the growing population of pack members. It should have taken my mind off the little fact and thoughts running through my head but it didn't. In fact, my head wouldn't stop focusing on that little detail.

Harold Hill took his life the day after Gwen Hill, when his mate died? How could someone take their life just because someone they love was gone? They should be able to pick themselves up and focus on their duties like their daughter, but he was a man and their daughter is currently... Flipping back to the page, I see that she's 23 years of age now, but still.

I know that's your mate and all, but life goes on, and you lived a long time before loving them and you will live sometime after loving them.

This is why I don't look forward to having a mate: that kind of weakness, he'll be a prize to all of the enemies I gained the day I became Alpha and the enemies I've gained along the way. That type of weakness that he'll hold to me - I don't want it.
