Clary panted, tears in her eyes, worried.

The alarms were going off.

The screens all had a warning WARDS BREACH

Shadowhunters were gathering their weapons.

Alec grabbed his bow and arrows.

Victor walked closer. "I thought these wards were airtight."

"How many soldiers are here?" Alec asked.

"Only two dozen," Victor answered. "Everyone else is out dealing with the Downworld attacks."

"I'll take the entry with Longford," Alec told him.

Victor nodded to a few Shadowhunters, talking to Alec. "We'll cover the weapons room."

Victor and his group started to walk away.

Alec and his group started to walk away.

"Valentine's work?" a Shadowhunter asked.

"Only one way to find out," Alec answered.

Hallway

The doors to the front of the building slid open.

Madzie was in the middle.

Three Shadowhunters were lying on the floor around her, not moving.

Madzie walked inside.

Alec and his group saw her.

Alec held his hand to the group to stop. "Hold your fire."

The doors slid shut behind Madzie.

"What's a little girl doing here all alone?" Shadowhunter 1 asked.

Alec walked closer to Madzie cautiously. "She's a Warlock. Madzie. Did you..." Madzie stared up at him, moving her hand up and back, using magic to slam Alec into an elevator, closing the door. The Shadowhunters stepped forward, holding their weapons in ready. Alec's voice came from the elevator. "Hold your fire. She's a kid."

Madzie stared at the Shadowhunters for a moment, taking off her scarf, using her gills, taking away the air around the Shadowhunters.

The Shadowhunters choked, trying to breath, suffocating.

Elevator

Alec stood up from the floor, hearing the Shadowhunters from the other side. He tried to open the elevator doors.
