Chapter 2 - Palaye Royale

A week had passed since I'd met Remington and Mum couldn't stop going on about him.

"Ooh what a lovely boy he is."
"Such a polite young man."
"I hope his brothers are just as nice."

Ryan said he was cool too which was great because I hope I saw him again. It was nice having a neighbour my age and I was excited to meet his brothers too.

The doorbell rang and I went to see who it was. I smiled when Remington gave a cute wave.

"Just the person I was hoping to see!" he quipped.

"Great to see you again!"

Mum walked in and gave Remington a big hug and he didn't even pull away which I kind of expected would happen.

"I just came round to see if Elodie wanted to practice in the band with us."

"Yeah I'd love too thank you!"

Mum let me go and I grabbed my bass guitar. The layout of Remington's house was exactly the same as ours but decorated completely different. Whereas my house was mostly beige and pastel colours, aside from my room which was bright green, this one was full of strange ornaments and posters and random burst of colour. It was quirky but I loved it.

"My brothers are down in the basement, that's where we play because we don't wanna disturb the neighbours, although I'm sure you wouldn't mind," Remington winked at me.

I smiled and we headed to the basement which was quite empty compared to the rest of my house.

"Hey guys, this is Elodie. She's our neighbour and also a bass player so I said she could jam with us for a bit to see if she's any good," Remington introduced.

All three boys had the same black hair and fashion sense but they looked unique at the same time.

"Hey I'm Sebastian," the first boy said; his hairstyle was hard to describe but had a sort of fringe and like a 70's rock look going on. He had quite a prominent facial structure and I could tell that he was the oldest because he looked very mature. I shook his hand and smiled back at him, excited to see him play guitar later.

"I'm Emerson," the younger boy introduced. He was the splitting image of Remington but had much longer hair and a quirky hat with a feather in. He had a very artistic vibe so the drums would suit him perfectly.

We chatted for a bit and they told me about some of their songs before we started playing. They had  turned their basement into a music studio with lights and speakers and instruments. I brought my own bass guitar and saw a few guitars hanging on the wall. The drum kit had a handwritten logo on saying Palaye Royale.

"Palaye Royale? I like the name."

"We were originally called Kropp Circle cause that's our last name but we prefer Palaye Royale," Sebastian explained.

Four hours later, my arms were dead and we were all ready for a break. Their songs were amazing and they seemed to like my bass playing which I was really grateful of because I had so much fun playing with them.

"Dude that was awesome!" Emerson grinned, pulling me into a hug.

"Your drumming is amazing! And I loved the songs!" I told them.

"Well, you're hired. Come round whenever to practice, you're part of our band now," Remington grinned.

"Really? Thank you so much! Your band is amazing and I can't believe I can be a part of it!"

I stayed round their house for a bit longer, just getting to know them. It turned out Emerson was a year below me in school, Remington had just left so he was a year older than me, and Sebastian was two years older than him.
