Arranged Marriage

Chapter 26

Maya is sitting at the apartment busy cleaning up a bit.
Raven is fast asleep in her crib and Josh is still at college.
It's been just about three weeks since Maya and Raven have moved in with Josh and to say the truth Maya couldn't be happier.
She knows that her mother is gone and she has to take care of a baby but it isn't getting her down.
And with her fiancé's support she couldn't be more happy.

It was half way through May and the wedding was coming closer.
Of course Maya and Josh had to take Katy and Shawn off the list but it wasn't taking them down.
Josh had asked Lucas to be his bestman in Shawn's place and Maya had gotten Ava (Auggie's wife) as one of her bridesmaids.
The wedding was coming so close and nothing could stop it.
Josh's parents were due in New York later that day and Maya is happy about it.
But also nerves.
Her parents-in-law has no idea that Josh and Maya are living together let alone with a baby.
But that will be another thing to worry about tomorrow.

Maya heard a knock on the door and went to get in.

"Maya?" Amy said.
"Hey. Come in," Maya said.
"Josh home?" Allan asked.
"Still in class. Can I get you some coffee?" Maya asked.
"Yeah that will be nice."
"Since when do you stay here?" Amy asked.
"Three weeks. Me and my sister moved in," Maya said.
"Your baby sister?" Amy asked and Raven cried.
"I'll be right back," Maya said.

"What is Josh thinking?" Amy asked.
"Maybe he just wants to act nice."

"Oh my gosh. She has gotten so cute," Amy said.
"Hear that Ravvie? She ha s een really good and bonding with Josh," Maya said.
"Can I hold her?" Amy asked.
"Of course," Maya said and gave Raven to Amy while she finished the coffee.

"Here you go," Maya said.
"How is Josh handling her?"
"Your son is handling her very well Mr Matthews. She has been really good too. Not waking up at night and when my parents were around that is all she did," Maya said.

"You guys look cozy," Josh said.
"Why didn't you tell us Maya is living with you?" Amy asked.
"I probably forgot. Hi."
"Hey," Maya said and gave Josh a kiss.
"Coffee?"
"Yes thank you. Looks like you guys are warming up towards Raven," Josh said and sat down next to Allan.
"Your mother is. Where is Shawn?" Allan asked.

Josh looked at Maya and she nodded.
Saying that he can tell them the truth.

"We don't know. Maya got home the one day and they were gone but Raven was in her crib. They clearly had plans to leave but we were very surprised that they had left Raven alone at the house," Josh said.
"That is terrible," Amy said as Maya gave Josh his coffee and sat down next to him.
"Yeah it is," Maya said and Amy have Raven to her sister.

"I have no idea what they were thinking. Nobody knows so can we please keep it low for now? I don't want everyone worrying about me," Maya said.
"Of course," Amy said.
"Josh I want to discuss something with you," Allan said.
"Let's go for a walk then."

"I actually want to show you something," Maya said and pulled out her phone.
"My wedding dress. What do you think about it?" Maya asked.
"It's beautiful Maya. Wow. You have really good taste," Amy said.
"Thank you. I would usually show it to my mother or Riley but my mother isn't here and I'm a little anxious around Riley."
"How is Josh handling everything really?" Amy asked.
"Not like I thought. He is treating Raven like his own daughter. Which I am very fortunate to. But I'm just wondering if my parents will show up again somewhere. What do I do then? For now everything about the wedding is organised. A week after graduation I'm going to the venue and figuring a few stuff out. I'm actually getting excited," Maya said.
