"Are you ready yet?" Jet asked me for the millionth time, as I put the finishing touches on my makeup. It was going on eight, and our reservation for dinner across the bridge was in half a hour.

"If you ask me one more time" I playfully remarked as I threw my eyeliner in my bag.

"If I ask you one more time, what?" He sexily raised his eyebrow from behind me.

"We're staying here" I smirked, turning towards him.

"That's fine wit me" he shrugged, pulling me in, "I could get used to staying in here with you all day"

"I bet, but you gotta pay to play" I winked.

I strutted past him, and he admired the black latex dress I wore with his eyes and a cracked smile. He struck me on my behind once I was pass him, and I jumped with a small yelp.

"Yeah okay, in that case you do too. I ain't cheap either"

"Oh yeah? What's your rate?" I teased.

We began to gather our things, whilst joking back and forth. I grabbed my black Chanel bag of choice, and we were finally out of the door and on our way to the restaurant.

"Fifty an hour?" He said not sounding too sure.

"Oh so you's a cheap hoe, got it" I laughed.

"That's cheap, shit I may have to check out my career options?" he shook his head.

He opened the door to the car to let me in, and I slid inside. The car was covered in his scent, an aroma I still couldn't get over.

"How is that by the way?" I asked as he pulled off.

"How's what?

"Your career, I bet you see a lot of crazy shit"

I was still going off of my love for Law and Order, and the countless days and nights I spent watching it when there was nothing else to do at Solomon's.

My days would be filled of a house of loud women, mostly bickering or downward spiraling in their own pity. I can still remember the smell of liquor always in the air, and I couldn't complain because even I abused the poison. With a glass of Brandy in my rigged cup, I would sip away as I watched my favorite show, and couldn't help but wonder if Olivia would one day save me too. Was it possible? A girl like me who had been in debt to men my entire life. Could I too find normalcy after a life like this?

Jet continued to drive towards the restaurant, and as he began to tell me a few of the things he did at his job I started to wonder is he more like a Stabler or Tutuola when in the field. Was he the handsome hot head that ruffed up criminals in the interrogation room, or was he laid back and tactical, the one who never had to do the most to get his guy.

Whichever, he seemed to talk about his job in a very passionate way - and I could only wish I felt that way about my path in life. However I knew that would never happen.

As I began to think about my own 'career', my phone lit up, displaying a message from Jhonny. It was as if it was a sign, as he followed up on my decision for his little business venture. I still hadn't decided, and I wasn't sure that I wanted to. The deal was grand, no doubt about it. I had gone from sitting on thousands with the ability to travel anywhere in the world and start a new life, and now I was back to square one with only a few months of rent if that.

Taking Jhonny's offer would get me right back to where I needed to be, but I couldn't help but ask myself but at what cost?

"Come on, you ready?" Jet asked, putting his arm out for me to grab it.
