Marcus POV

Today was the day we are going to do the jury selection or void dire. We are going to examine who we think will give an impartial an unbiased opinions on the case. Today was also the day that I was going to see Vea after all this time.

I wonder has she changed? How was she? Does she have a boyfriend? Would she still remember me? And above all things would she give me a chance to right what was wrong in our current relationship? If you can call it relationship.

I was thinking deeply about this, as I got out of my condo when I saw Vea from the corner of my eyes. She hasn't changed a bit, except the way she was dressed. The once laid back outfit she wore which consisted of plain shirt, jeans, sandals and an over-sized bag was now replaced by a black blazer, white inner blouse, black slacks, a three inch black high heeled shoes and an appropriate black bag and a folder bag. Her once laid back hair was also replaced by a perfect bun. All in all she was still the brown eyed, brown hair beauty that has haunted my dreams after that kiss.

But there was something that made me look again, she was walking hand in hand with a little girl that looked like her. Does she have a daughter? Is she married, but if she was how come her last name didn't change? Did he leave her with a love child and didn't support her? If he did and she gives me a chance I would accept that little girl in her hands.

As she walked with the little girl, I am assuming to the day care nearby I couldn't help but follow her. Am I too late into making her believe that I loved her?

As I got near the daycare center, I saw and heard the little girl talking to her, while Vea was kneeling down to the height of the child.

"Mama, would we go to the cemetery today and visit real mom and dad? We haven't visited them in a while, I want to give them this drawing I made in class. Do you think they would see it from heaven mama?" The little girl said.

As the little girl was speaking I couldn't help but see the sadness in Vea's eyes. Who was this little girl calling her mama, she was obviously not the real mother of the little girl so who was? Why was Vea taking care of this little girl as well?

"Yes baby, if that's what you want we can visit your real mom and dad. I will take you there after work, I promise." Vea said, and then let the little girl walk inside the day care.

I tried hard not to look at her as she stood up and started making her way in my direction, but I just couldn't. Is that little girl the reason why she came back? If so I would love that little girl for the rest of my life because she gave Vea back in my life.

I knew Vea saw me when I locked eyes with hers. I saw wonder, hurt and pain but then she masked it in a fake amusement in seeing me after all these years.

"I never thought I'd see the day that I would be seeing you here again." Said Vea

I couldn't speak for a moment, here was the girl who kissed me and let me go thinking I didn't want her. I felt like I was transported in time when she kissed me and waited for my reaction only to be met with none. I couldn't do that again.

"Me neither, how are you Vea? I haven't seen or heard from you in a long time." I said with such a nervous voice I hoped she didn't notice.

"I'm doing good, are you here for your kid or something?" Obviously making a reference since we were so close from a daycare center.

"Uh no, I don't have a kid. I was just walking around before going to work. I mean jury selection is today." I said

She smiled as if something I said truly amused her.

"I think know what you mean since we are working on the same case."

I smiled at that thought, I would be spending time with her. I can have a shot in proving to her I love her.

"Yeah, wanna walk together then?" She nodded and we made our way to the courthouse.

Vea POV

As we finished selecting twelve people who would be the jury for the trial, I couldn't help but feel happy. I saw Marcus again after all this time, not only that but we are going to be seeing each other every weekday until this case is closed.

I know I should be focusing on moving on, and believe me when I say I thought I have but upon seeing him again I just knew I haven't. I guess being away from him for four years hasn't helped in that area. But I know I can't, he's a married man by now I can't be involved.

As I finished packing up, Marcus made his way to talk to me.

"Hey I was wondering if you could accompany me for lunch? You know just for old times sake?" He asked

Should I eat lunch with him, I mean he is a married man. But I just can't help myself, I really want to have lunch with him.

"Sure, lunch sounds good." I said

Would I regret saying yes or not? What is there to talk about? Could I really stay away from the guy who has stolen my heart without him knowing? I know I haven't truly moved on but I have things to consider now.

As I followed him to the restaurant of his choice I noticed a familiar signage. Cinco's, our favorite hangout place before. How am I supposed to move on if he's bringing back old memories back?
