chap 40 ; heading back

after hearing those words come out of his mouth. tears started to swell in my eyes.

"is it official that you do have cancer?" i asked and made the tears fall down

"we don't know if i have it officially. they said that i have a tumor somewhere in my stomach, but their not sure if i do have cancer. but they said there's a 60% chance i could have" shawn said and then scooted closer to me and kissed my temple

"i'm going to be fine em. their not even sure if i really do have cancer" shawn whispered

"b-but sh-sh-shawn. what if you do?" i asked in between sobs

"then we can work it out. i have to go back to canada next week, so i can have surgery" shawn said

"i'm comming with you" i said

"no.. you have to go school" shawn told me and grasped onto my hand

"i can talk to m-my mom about what's going on" i said and held his hand tighter

"i love you emma marie wilbert" shawn said and the kissed my forehead

i began sobbing onto his chest.

-1 week later-

"bye mom. i'll be back once i find out shawn is okay" i said and hugged her tightly

"alright" she said

"shawn" she said and motioned shawn to go to her

shawn walked to her, and once he reached her. my mom took him into a bear hug.

"stay safe. okay? you're a really good guy, and i can tell you love emma as much as i do. we can't risk losing you. not after what we've been through" she said and then released

"alright mrs. wilbert. see you later" shawn said and then we both walked out the door

-at canada-

"mom?" shawn asked as soon as he went into the house

"shawn!" aaliyah yelled and jumped onto shawn

"shawn. i miss you so much" she said in the hug

"i missed you to kiddo. now where's mom?" he asked as she placed down aaliyah

"she's in her room" she said

"okay. thank you" shawn said and began walking towards his mom's room

once he reached her room. he knocked lightly and opened it.

"mom?" he whispered

"oh shawn! i missed you so much! i heard about the tumor" mrs. mendes said and muffled shawn into a bear hug

"i know. i heard about it to. when is um... my surgery?" he asked

"tomorrow" she replied

"okay. wake me up if i don't wake up on time" shawn said

"alright honey" his mom replied and hugged shawn one more time
