chap 1 ; sing

a/n; i didn't know what to name this chapter. so yeah

🎶boy i'm in love with the thought of you🎶

i ended the song and saved the video.

"EMMA!" my mom yelled from downstairs

"COMMING!" i replied/yelled back

i shut my video camera and placed it on top of my desk.

i went out my room and ran down the stairs.

"hey mom!" i greeted as i reached the kitchen

"oh hey honey. you're relatives are comming over. can you please put these drinks in the cooler and help me set up the table?" she asked

"of course i can mom!" i told her and began to carry a pack of cream soda to the backyard.

once i reached the cooler. i placed the soda pack down and opened it.

i dropped the soda cans inside the cooler slowly, and then added 1 pack of ice on top of it.

i went back and poured grape soda and added another pack of ice to it.

•• 3 hours later ••

i changed into some shorts, a plain white shirt, amd put my hair into a messy bun.

no i do not put on makeup. unless there is something special i have to attend to.

i put on my flip flops and headed to the backyard where my mom and my relatives are at.

sadly. i don't have a dad.. he left when i was 14 years old. he's in jail right now. he came home drunk one night and tried to kill my mom. i had a brother. but he couldn't make it..... his name is elai. he was dragged by a truck that my dad was driving.

just thinking about my past sent a tear roll down my cheek.

"sweetie. are you feeling alright?" my aunt marie asked me

"i'm fine aunt marie. it's just..... i miss elai so much" i told her and looked down to my feet

"aw. it's okay hun. he's in a better place now. stop thinking about the past, it'll ruin your future. okay?" she told/asked me

i smiled at her before replying.

"okay"

"great. now have fun. talk to your cousins while i'm having some fun with my sisters" she smiled at me and started to walk back to my mom and my other aunties'

i began walking to the bonfire that my cousins set up.

i sat down next to my older cousin.

john.

me and john are really close. he's like my older brother.

"hey em" john said and hugged me

"hey john" i smiled at him and we released

•• 10PM ••

the party that was happening in our backyard is still happening.

everyone is gathered around the bonfire talking about memories about the past. good ones of course.

"LOOK EVERYONE! FIREFLIES!" my other cousin jim yelled as he pointed at the fireflies that are flying around

"LET'S SING FIREFLIES!" john yelled and we began to sing the song 'fireflies' (i think that's the name. lol)
