Ariane: We've finally started moving.

Sam: I was starting to think we'd been caught.

Ariane: So.. I know from your standpoint things aren't exactly easy. I mean you're our leader.

Sam: I have to be strong for the rest of you. It isn't easy.

Ariane: Ryan was your friend wasn't he.

Sam: I'd known him since childhood. I.. I remember this one time when we were kids. Our mother's were friend's and so were we. Back then we were very young. Anyway, I got hurt really bad. Fell out of a tree and snapped my life, and I remember him carrying me back home to my mother. I just wish I could have saved him. He was my oldest friend and now he's gone. Just like that.

Ariane: I can't understand how you must feel right now.

Sam: I wish it had been me.

Ariane: No! Don't say that. You have led us out of danger more than a few times!

Sam: I'm also one of the reasons Sophia was killed.

Ariane: You can't blame yourself for that, Sammy.

Sam: Someone has to carry that weight, it might as well be me. I can't even look Michael in the eyes.

Ariane: I understand that, but it wasn't your fault. We all knew it was a trick and we agreed to separate anyway. So you can't just go blaming yourself.

Sam: He used to be special to me. How conflicted I am.. He trained me to become who I am today.

Ariane: Maybe so, but you didn't get your good qualities from that bastard.

Sam: He wasn't always like this. The world betrayed him.

Ariane: What do you mean?

Sam: About 20 years ago, just before the war began. One of the different breeds part of the Covenant crash landed onto Earth. Reports would say that it was an attack, but I'm sure it was only to cover up and put blame on another species. It landed near Carver's home, and it sought out refuge in the closest place it could find. When it entered his house it opened fire on his family. But with what I have seen, I believe now that the Covenant was entirely innocent. I think it was scared. Why else would it take the lives of his two children and his wife.

Ariane: Carver had a family. It makes sense now why he went to such extreme lengths.

Sam: He's completely delusional. He murdered them out of spite. Because he wanted to. Because it was easier than facing his worst fears. Now he's become a monster. capable of destroying his own kind.

Ariane: You think that's what he's planning?

Sam: I hope I'm wrong, but it's entirely likely that Carver plans to destroy the human race. He has so much built-up hatred for me. Now the UNSC. Next is the world.

Ariane: If that ends up being true, then we can't allow someone like that to live.

Sam: He needs to be killed. Simple as that.

A few tear drops fall from Sam's face, despite him having utter hatred for his mentor turned villain. Ariane gets down in front of him and wipes away his tears at a slow pace before resting her hands on his cheeks.

Ariane: Who knew you were just a big ol' softie, Sam.

Just before Sam is able to reply, the shipping container is docked at it's destination. The two of them could hear footsteps dispersing, followed by loud shutter gates closing around them. They were at the center of The Rebellion.
