LAMBDA Act 2: Redemption

Redemption: Part 2

Carver: It would appear Sam and his team are on active duty once again.

John: After all the trouble we've given them, it was only a matter of time.

Carver: Yes, well that was the goal after all.

John: My son somehow managed to survive being shot through the chest with my rifle.

Carver: Well he's a fighter. Just like you. Like us.

John: I think you overexaggerate my son's abilities.

Carver: No, you underestimate him. That's exactly why you died. You thought little of him and you were killed for it. I only brought you back from the brink of death to prove that I could.

John: What the hell are you saying?

Carver stands up from his chair and walks towards his subordinate, John.

Carver: I no longer need you.

Carver unsheathes his gun and shoots John in the gut 3 times before re-holstering. John drops to his knees and instead of blood searing out of him, it is instead black, organic fluid.

Carver: You were hardly even human anymore. You are imperfect trash. But I can do better than you. I know where I went wrong with you.

John: You.. Bastard.. Traitorous bastard!!

Carver: Tell it to God.

Carver shoots John in the head and his body falls lifelessly to the floor.

Carver: You can come in now.

???: Got a little messy in here.

Carver: Yes, well he had to be put down.

???: Well, do I need to kill anybody today?

Carver: Not necessarily. However I would like you to play with our prey a bit.

???: As you wish.

Sam: So where are we heading, Cal.

Calvin: We have intel on an old manufacturing company. Apparently some shady shit has been going down.

Sam: Meaning Carver and his men.

Calvin: The Rebellion.

Sam: I'm not calling them that.

Ariane: We've been fighting these bastards for months and we've been on the losing side.

Sam: Losing side?

Ryan: Half of the UNSC followed Carver when he left. Most of them believed he was right about what he did. That's why the world is divided. Half of us want to preserve our relationships with alien species. The other half wants to kill and evolve.

Sam: Carver really fucked this world up in my sleep.

Michael: We were supposed to get married later this year, but with everything that's happened there's just no way. We planned on retiring, get away from all this fighting.

Sophia: We can't do anything until this war is over.

Sam: Then we will finish this. You have my word.

Shortly after, the 7 soldiers disembark at their destination.

Sam: I'll just address the elephant in the room... Where the fuck is everything?!

Ryan: It's uh.. Empty.

Calvin: Just like my soul.

???: Well, maybe my intel wasn't the best, but it got you here nonetheless.

The strange man jumps down from the broken out ceiling and lands in front of the group.

Michael: Who the hell is this tool.

Reed: The names Reed. I was your "Intelligence".

Sam: So, what you wanted us here to brag about how great you are?

Reed: Well originally I planned on killing all of you, but where's the fun in that. You can have your weapons it if it makes you all feel safer.

Everyone in LAMBDA draws their weapons, but by the time they look up, Reed was gone.

Sam: The hell? Where did he-

Reed taps Sam's shoulder, then tosses him into the wall. Following that he kicks Ryan's into the air, kicking him to the side right after. He then catches the gun and snaps it in half. He then disappears again from everyone sight of view.

Sam: Everyone on guard! This guy's the real deal..

Ryan: That asshole broke my gun!

Reed: I thought you'd put up a better fight than this.

Reed reappears and grabs Michael and Sophia, bashing their heads together. Just after he leaps up and roundhouse kicks Calvin across the face. He then tackles Jackie to the ground and just starts punching him constantly.

Jackie: Why is this fucker hitting me!!

Sam rushes over to Reed and fires off a couple shots from his pistol, only to be deflected into a couple of explosives, putting the other soldiers out of commission. Sam and Reed land just outside of the factory and stand to their feet.

Sam: You.. You remind me of someone.

Reed: I was wondering if you would ever remember.

Sam: Why.. Are you on his side.

Reed: I'm a mercenary, now. I fight and kill for money. No target too pricey.

Sam: C'mon man.. You know this isn't right.

Reed: I'm truly sorry, Sam. If it means anything, you were the best friend I ever had.

Reed pulls out his gun and aims it at Sam. After a few moments, he struggles to pull the trigger, despite the money.

Sam: You can't do it, can you.

Reed: You know how much he's paying me? 10,000. No money is worth killing my friend over.

Reed drops the gun and hits his head.

Reed: This doesn't mean we're on the same side. I still want to get paid, but I'll be choosing the winning side when this battle is decided.

Sam: It was.. Surprisingly great to see you again Reed, despite you trying to murder us,

Reed: Eh, well what's friendship without a little guns and rivalry. Do me a favor.. Don't tell the others about this. Can't have everyone knowing I'm a pansy.

Sam: You got it.

Reed: I'll be seeing you around, Colonel.

Reed disappears and immediately leaves the area, right before the others wake up.

Ariane: Oh god, my head.

Calvin: What the hell happened? God, my head is on fire.

Sam: We were attacked. I managed to fend him off.

Ryan: How on earth did you? That guy was a machine.

Sam: We were built from the same fibers. Best friends since childhood.

Komtareus emerges from the airship.

Komtareus: Did I miss anything.

Calvin: Where the fuck have you been!
