LAMBDA Act 2: Redemption

Redemption: Part 4

1 Month Later...

Sam: Are you sure?

Ainsley: It's official. All but confirmed, besides Jackie.

Sam: They couldn't find Jackie's body?

Ainsley: Miraculously, Jackie survived the attack. His body is mostly mechanical at this point so he only appeared to be dead.

Sam: Then what about.. Sophia and Ryan.

Ainsley: I'm afraid they're bodies were not found. Nowhere to be seen. We figured from blood splatters that Ryan was killed just over a railing, so we search the water surrounding the rig, but nothing came up. And from what Michael told us Sophia was killed right in front of him. Poor bastard. His own fiancé killed right in front of him.

Sam: Carver will pay for this. I swear it.

Ainsley: Good.. Then if you're ready to go, reassemble your team. We have your next assignment ready to go.

Michael busts in during the middle of their briefing, staring down Sam.

Ainsley: Mike, you should be resting, get back to bed!

Michael: No.. No fucking way. I'm not letting you go on this mission without me. That fucker killed my fiancé and I'm gonna come with you. I made a promise to myself and her that I would bring this bastard to justice. Whether that means killing him, or bringing him in. I haven't decided yet. Is that going to be a problem, sir?

Sam: Not at all, Michael. Get your gear and we'll set off.

Ainsley: You're not seriously letting him go. He's still recovering from getting his guts rearranged!

Sam: Nothing I say or do is gonna stop that man from coming. Besides, I owe him. Send me the details of our next mission, Commander.

Sam walks out of the briefing room and calls together his team to meet at ol' Bessy. Everyone that was still alive met up at the ship, this time there were fewer soldiers though.

Jackie: It's good to see you all again..

Michael: I wasn't sure you'd pull through, Jackie.

Calvin: Mike, I'm so-

Michael: Please.. Let's just focus on this last mission. We get Carver, then I'm out.

Ariane: That sounds reasonable..

Komtareus: Once Carver is gone, perhaps the planet can be at peace once again.

Sam: Optimist as always, Kom. Everyone aboard the airship. Let's do this.. This one last mission.

The remaining members of LAMBDA climb aboard Bessy, huddling together around the TV intercom just before it switches on.

Ainsley: Okay, soldiers. Here's what we have next for you. We found a way to track down Carver and his men, potentially. But this is extremely risky so we can't risk but two people going on this particular part of the mission.

Sam: What is the mission, sir.

Ainsley: You'll need to sneak your way inside one of their most heavily guarded shipping facilities. It will be packed with soldiers and nearly impossible to get in without being noticed. That means if you're seen, the mission is over. We have one chance to catch him by surprise. Just one.

Sam: I'll go. I'm the most capable one here when it comes to combat.

Ariane: I'll go too. Because no offense, but the rest of you are too large.

Ainsley: Then it's decided. Get to work soldiers. Godspeed.

The intercom shuts off just before Calvin rises up and starts up Bessy. The soldiers sit in silence for quite some time, before..

Komtareus: I want to say thank you.

Michael: Why are you thanking us?

Komtareus: My people were destroyed by Carver and his actions. Yet, I have been welcomed with open arms on this planet, despite the war.

Jackie: You're one of us now, Kom.

Calvin: Bessy is now in stealth mode, she can't stay like this for long, you two.

Sam: Right, lets go Ariane.

Ariane: Yes, sir.

The two soldiers jump down out of the airship onto the roof of a large metal building. They look around and see hundreds of soldiers, going about their daily routines.

Ariane: This is nuts... How can we possibly sneak into a container with all these soldiers.

Sam: I'm not sure. But we have to try. For Sophia and Ryan.

Ariane: I know. Okay, let's do this.

Sam then leaps across the large building and lands on the adjacent building across from them. Ariane follows shortly after and leaps for the building, but she hits her gut on the corner of the building. She began slipping just before Sam grabbed her hand.

Sam: I've got you. I've got you.

Sam then pulls her up onto the building next to him.

Ariane: Thanks for, um, saving me.

Sam: Eh, no problem. Can't have you dyin' on me.

The two soldiers crouch at their new vantage point and can spot the shipping containers across from them, an army of soldiers in between them and their goal.

Sam: Heh, well here goes nothing, yeah?

Ariane: You've found a way across.

Sam: We're gonna zipline across.

Ariane: That won't work. Our armor is way too heavy.

Sam: That's why we take the armor off.

Sam smirks to himself because of his sudden "Cleverness", meanwhile Ariane rolls her eyes. The two of them drop off their armor and zipline across the hundreds of soldiers below before landing on a big, green shipping container.

Sam: So now we get inside and wait.

Ariane: Right. Well, ladies first, sir.

Sam shakes his head and gets inside the container, Ariane following him shortly after before closing the container door.
