Chapter Two: "Family"

'I knew it' was all Lucy could think.

"Natsu.." Lucy said in a hushed tone. her head was down and her bangs were covering her eyes.

"What." He said back, coldly.

"I knew this was gonna happen. I knew it from the start, I just thought i would be wrong." Lucy said with a fake smile.

"If you knew I was gonna do this then why stay?" He said.

"Because I wanted to make sure I knew how you truly felt before I left. I wanted to make sure you knew what you were saying to me." She said with her head down.

A tear streamed down her face and the only one to see it was Lisanna.

"Was it all a lie then? During the games when you were fighting for me?"

"Who said i was fighting for you?" he said coldly.

That broke her. That broke her in more ways than one.

"You're right, how silly of me to think you ever cared that much. You haven't talked to me in months. And now this, my worst fear of being called weak by my family.

"Why would I talk to you when all you do is complain about everything?"

That's when Lisanna slapped him and Gray punched him. That was too far, all of this is too far and unfair.

"You're right. I'm sorry." she said with a smile and tears running down her face.

She ran out the guild and all the way home.

"Natsu Dragneel! That was too harsh and mean. You're the worst. You have no idea what kind of pain you just caused her and us." Mira said.

"Natsu, I always had a rivalry with you, but now i just hate you... How could you say any of that.." Gray said

"I was just stating the truth! Everyone knows it!"

some people just looked away out of pity or guilt not saying out loud that they thought he was right. But Lucy's true friends were defending her.

"Whatever, I'm going home, come on happy." Natsu said with a glare towards everyone.

Happy just stayed still.

"Happy? come on!"

"No Natsu. What you did was horrible and I won't go with you until you apologize to Lucy." Happy said with tears in his eyes and his voice quivering. This was the first time he'd stood up to Natsu, but he couldn't let this go.

"tch, whatever." Natsu said before walking out the guild.
