T.W.: misgendering

"Mom?" Remy walked into the kitchen.

He was three months along now and his belly was starting to get big. Unfortunately, Remy was in the middle of having morning sicknesses.

"Hey hon, what up?" Sarah asked, hugging Remy.

"I feel nauseous." Remy rested his head on his mom's shoulder.

Sarah rubbed his back, "you'll be okay. Morning sickness isn't forever, you know."

Remy nodded, wrapping his arms around his middle, "Mom? What if I'm not a good da- parent?"

"Oh you'll be a great parent for your baby." Sarah said, "have you come up with any more names yet?"

Remy nodded and sat down at the table, "I really like the name Patton."

Sarah chuckled and placed a plate of eggs in front of Remy, "You sound so sure that you're going to have a boy."

Remy smiled lightly, "I just have a feeling."

"You know," Sarah took a bite of her own food, "I was so sure you were going to be a boy."

Remy cringed and smiled, "yeah."

Axel came downstairs, "good morning, my beautiful girls!"

Remy hid his wince with a chuckle, "Hey dad."

Axel kissed Remy's head, then kissed Sarah, "I've got to get to work."

"No breakfast?" Sarah asked.

Axel shook his head, "I'll pick some up on my way."

Sarah sighed, "alright."

"Love you." Axel said, quickly leaving to his car.

Sarah sighed again, "I don't know what's wrong with him lately. You'd think he's the pregnant one with all his moodswings."

Remy laughed lightly, "yeah."

"Are you okay hon?" Sarah asked.

Remy took a deep breath, "I want to cut my hair."

Sarah blinked, "Oh? Why?"

"I-I just... m-my long hair m-makes me sc-scared that s-someone will g-grab it like h-he did." Remy shuddered.

"Oh hon, we'll go out later today and get it cut." Sarah hugged Remy.

Remy nodded, tears slipping past his eyes. Sarah rubbed his back.

"So, Patton huh?" Sarah said, "What made you think of that?"

Remy shrugged, "it just came to me, I don't know."

Sarah smiled, "well I like it."

"A-also, what do you think of the name Remy?" The boy asked, "f-for m-me?"

"What do you mean hon?" Sarah asked.

"M-mom, I-I'm trans." Remy choked out, "I-I feel like a-a boy, and I have since I-I was little."

"Hey, that's okay hon," Sarah wiped away the tears trailing down the boys face, "is that why you think you're not going to be a good parent?"

Remy nodded, "W-what if I'm not motherly enough? What if I'm not fatherly enough?"

"Remy," Sarah placed her hands on her son's shoulders, "You will be a great father."

Remy sobbed and hugged his mother tightly, "thank you."

"You're okay Rem." Sara hugged him back, "is Rem okay?"

Remy laughed lightly and nodded, "yeah, yeah that's fine mom."

Sarah smiled, "Are you going to tell your father?"

Remy shook his head, "no. Not yet."

Sarah nodded, "okay. I love you Rem."

Remy buried his face in his mom's shoulder, "I love you too mom."
