Chapter 3: Notice boards

The 4 of us went outside to check the noticeboards for any quests and to gain more coin for our travels. As we were Scouring the available jobs Naofumi added me to their party. Since Raphtalia and Filo were Naofumi's slaves technically, they appeared under his command in the party screen. However, I did not and took up my own space it would seem, signalling my status as another adventurer. Despite the fact they are his slaves, Naofumi is a kind soul and doesn't use them in any inappropriate or cruel way.
After searching for a solid 10 minutes we all finally agreed on a quest that was suitable. It was to find and kill a goblin ogre that was attacking adventures and stealing money, treasure and weapons across the nearby area. The bounty said there will be 100 silvers coins to every person in a party who brings the head of the ogre to the local lord. It also stated we could claim anything there as our own. With that last part, Naofumi was sure to add extra bags to the carriage to grab all the stuff
"Wait...were are horses?"
"What horses?" Asked raphtalia
"For the carriage, I mean"
"Oh that's easy" replied Naofumi "Filo"
"K!" She said, and then a loud, sudden blast of smoke appeared around her. Filo has turned from a small little girl to a massive chicken
"What the fuck...."
"This is how she fights by the way" Said raphtalia as a personal guide
"So Filo can turn from being a cute little girl with angel wings to a bloody turkey that knows Kung Fu?"
"Kung-What?" Asked Raphtalia tilting her head
"Yeah pretty much" Said Naofumi laughing
"Are you guys coming??" Asked Filo
"Yeah yeah we are Filo don't worry" Said Naofumi walking towards her
"I still don't know what Kung foot is"

After riding to about just westward of Lute Village the 4 of us came to a stop. We could see at the edge of a small cliff a gaping cave with a thick black shadow smothering the caves entrance we got off the carriage and each took about 6 sacks each. Filo, Raphtalia and I could all see Naofumi start to shake with excitement at all the treasures we'll find.
"Hey Naofumi, how do we know we'll get a fair cut with you bouncing around like that?"
"Simple" he said turning towards me "grab as much shit as you can. You have 6 bags all to yourself to fill to your hearts content"
"Are you really sure you wanna try that route?"
"Yeah why?"
I looked at both Filo and Raphtalia before looking back at Naofumi "seriously?!" The three of us said in unison
"Yeah, now lets get going before another adventurer cuts off its head"
We slowly made our way over to the mouth of the cave. While it did go downwards the cave wasn't too steep. The main problem was this unnatural thick darkness smothering the caves innards. Naofumi procured 3 torches and lit one for himself, Raphtalia and Me. Filo stayed close to Raphtalia, almost like a mother. I signed at the sad thought that my love for her was as gone as quick as it begun. As we went deeper into the cave I felt a cold sense of dread slowly build up with every step.
"Hey (Yn)" called out Naofumi
"Yeah what's up?"
"Where are you from anyways? You seem to have this defined accent on yourself and I cannot figure out where. You look western enough but I don't think your American"
I chuckled and cleared my throat to speak into a stereotypical butler accent "well then sir, it is because I hail from the tea land. The UK, as you know it"
"Ahh, where from exactly"
I then changed to a cockney accent "from Birmingham ya noncy twatshagger"
"Charming"
Raphtalia then spoke up "but then, if your from another country that speaks a different language, how come you can understand each other
"Maybe this world is translates it automatically since it is quite game-like" replied Naofumi
"Ohhhhh ok"

The 4 of us continued on through the now narrow cave. After a few more minutes of walk and talk we saw a faint light in the distance. Naofumi hushed everyone as we silently crept up towards the origin of the glow like moths to a lamp. As we got closer we saw that if was a roaring fire made up of many burly tree trunks. Surrounding the fire was a great pile of treasures. Gleaming crowns, bags of spilling coins, rubies, emeralds and other jewels were sparkling on jewellery and weapons. Magnificent swords, spears, bows, shields and other weapons and armour were resting around. In the corner we all heard a scrabbling sound. There were sniffs and snorts and growls of an unholy nature emitting from near a pile of what seems to be freshly acquired spoils, considering the warm corpses scattered around the area. The fire illuminated a hulking figure with dirty fur and a long, slender tale. It sniffed the air and stood up to turn towards us. It was gigantic. Most definitely 5-6 metres fall with huge burly limbs and a surprisingly comical head. It's two eyes twitched as it saw us on his land. It had 2 front teeth sticking kit of his jaw, almost like a rats
"T-that's a....Rat Ogre!" Cried Filo
"All the more reason to kill it" shouted Naofumi as Raphtalia drew her sword. Filo changed into her bird like form as I summoned rosmarinus into a slender and sharp longsword. I formed a circular shield on my arm gauntlet and charged at the monster. It let out a deafening screech and pounced high Into the air for a city-moving ground slam. I raised my shield to block its fists, resilient in a deafening shockwave. My phails started to fill with kinetic energy. I threw my shield at the monsters face and broke off it's two front teeth. It screamed in agony as I caught my shield and placed my longsword into my shield to charge it with kinetic energy. Once charged, i cast myself with a resurgence spell to fill myself with the stamina, speed and strength of 100 men. The phial energy coursed through me thanks to my wiring. I released my sword from my shield and slashed at the monster. As soon as one hit, another was slashed elsewhere. The phials increased the damage done by my sword, which worked well in my favour as now the Rat Ogre couldn't even move a muscle to counter as it stood paralysed. I cut off the left forearm and right hand of the abominable creature. I sliced off the left leg at the kneecap as the Ogre screamed in agony. As a final slash I fired a blast of kinetic energy to ride my into the air. With both hands I plunged my sword the monsters face. The Rat Ogre let out a small, blood gurgled cry as my sword went down the rest of the monsters body. At the end I jumped off as the Ogre fell backwards, sliced almost completely in half. I placed my sword into my shield to store the spare energy into my Phials as I returned rosmarinus and my shield into arm gauntlet via magnetic retrieval. I turned around to see Naofumi, Filo (in her child form) and Raphtalia all open mouthed, staring at me in wonder. While Naofumi composed himself and went off to stash the treasure into his sacks, Raphtalia and Filo came up to me, bearing a wide smile
"(Yn)! That was amazing!" Cried Raphtalia excitedly
"Yeah Yeah Yeah! Incredible!" Added Filo
"Yeah it was cool. Now are you three even trying to grab some gold?"
"Oh damn!" Shouted the three of us in unison
