Double Shift (Part 2)

Start from the beginning

In an instant, a blinding beam of light shoots Nova away and I see Ax drop like a rock onto Power Man's back, his skin glowing. "The cavalry has arrived!" he whoops as Spidey comes to, rubbing his head.

"H-Huh? CAST?"

I muster up any strength I have to stand, steeling myself for another fight and anything else they might throw at us. "They're the rest of backup." my voice is hoarse. "It's not over yet."

Power Man springs up, just in time to see Connor swoop in on a glass disk. Shards of glass surround him before he sends them off in a tornado with a sweep of his arm. They surround White Tiger, who roars in pain as they cut into her.

"Hey Hey! They might be Goblin-afied, but they're still our friends!" Spidey shouts as Power Man knocks Ax off him with a grunt.

"Spider-Man, I know you don't want to hurt them, but that won't stop them from hurting us or anyone else!" I try to reason, turning to face him. "Believe me, I don't want to do this either... but we have to stop them."

"I..." he struggles as the battle bursts to life around us. A giant paper soldier slams into Iron Fist, knocking him into the next building over. "I know. We need to lure them away from the city—they're causing too much damage!"

"Getting them to follow us won't be a problem. Stopping them from killing us is another story." I say putting a hand to my ear. "Guys, we have to get them to follow us away from the civilians," I say lowly into my communicator, hearing everyone's confirmations and Tracey's thumbs up as Spidey and I sprint forward. He swings to get a little more ground while I use my tails to spring from rooftop to rooftop.

"Where are we leading them?" I hear Connor ask over to the coms, letting out a yelp as he dodges what sounds like Power Man.

"Anywhere but here. You guys may have caught them off guard, but they still have experience. We won't be able to get them with any more cheap shots like that—no offense." Spidey says.

"None taken I guess??" Simone says and I can hear the fatigue in her voice. After that trip from DC, we're not all exactly in tip-top shape.

Nova flies overhead, sending a beam of energy to split us up, and White Tiger takes this chance to tackle Spider-Man.

"Spidey!"

"Eyes open, Shadow Fox!" I let out a shout as Iron Fit is suddenly beside me and I can't avoid his punch in time as he hits me hard. My back skids painfully against the tiles, the rough plates tearing into my skin.

"Why... is it always... the ribs..." I groan, coughing and curling into myself. He chuckles above me, and thanks to that damn gas, it sounds twisted and wicked. Nothing like the sound I remember from this morning.

"You lack discipline," he starts, towering over me, "and that will be your undoing!" he raises his foot, ready to slam it into my gut but before he can Ax rams his shoulder into him. Iron Fist lets out a cry as he's knocked into the scaffolding, Ax's skin glowing again, the light brighter on his shoulder.

"I'm not digging this whole creepy Zen thing at all!" he says, reaching a hand out to help me up, which I gratefully take.

"T-Thanks..." I grunt, my legs shaking slightly while he helped me stand. The others regroup near us, Spidey standing in front of me.

"We can't fight them for much longer, the gas is giving them crazy stamina!"

"Yeah no duh! So what do we do?" Ax asks as a spotlight blinds the goblin team and a familiar voice calls down to us.

"Spider-man! Shadow Fox!"

"Coulson?!" Spidey and I shout as they toss ropes out for us to hang on to as the SHIELD ship hovers above us.
