Late autumn was your favourite time of year, due to the upcoming holidays, the beauty of the leaves changing colour, wearing big sweaters, and being around your girlfriend, Susie.

The two of you were sitting in the park by her house, the breeze blowing her short hair around and lifting your spirits up. Susie sat cross-legged on the ground by the swings where you were swinging back and forth, her cheeks pink. She was pulling grass out of the ground in a sort-of aggravated way, like an angry bird would pull worms from the ground.

Gently, you kicked some dirt at her with the toe of your boot, trying to get her attention. She seemed distracted, so you tried again, kicking the dirt a little harder. Susie turned to look at you, and it was then you noticed how distraught she truly was.

     "What's up buttercup?"

A small smile turned up the corners of her lips, and with a sigh Susie stood up and sat on the swing beside you. "I have something to tell you. A-and you might not like me very much after it."

You took notice of the way her hands shook while the gripped the swing chains, and the slight quiver of her lip, and offered her a warm smile. "Susie? You could tell me that you killed a man and I would still love you."

Her eyes met yours, lashes wet with unshed tears. Your smile dropped. "Oh my god Susie did you kill someone?"

She laughed, though it was watery. "No. [Y/N], I um. I —."

You reached out and took hold of her hand. "It's, um. I'm a-a boy. A-a-and I go by Theo."

You locked eyes as the words sunk into your head. You realized how much that didn't matter, that you would love Sus—Theo no matter what. "Okay."

"You're not gonna break up with me be-b-because I'm not a girl?" You could see relief bloom across his face like a flower, soft and warm.

"It's a good thing I," you pushed yourself back on the swing, propelling the swing backwards and forwards. "Swing both ways!"

Theo let out a laugh, his grip on the chains loosening. "You're an idiot."

"But I'm your idiot." you whispered, leaning forward off the swing to give him a kiss. Theo smiled against your lips, glad that you weren't making a huge deal about it.

You pulled away, placing your hands on his cheeks, "I would never stop loving you for something like that, Theo. I'll always love you, unconditionally."

He smiled, brightly, before launching off the swing and into your arms. You fell back in surprise, landing in a pile of leaves with Theo on top of you.

"Thank you. I love you, [Y/N]."

well this was awful and i hate it :)
