Chapter 16

~

Feliciano still had a job. The boss had heard about Romano and sent his dearest wishes, hopes, and prayers. Luckily, the boss was also a foreigner, a man from Basque in Spain. His name was Iquer.

The Italian tried to think nothing of his partner - if you could even call him that anymore. Sometimes it was hard. Because how else would he get news on Romano?

Fortunately, Ludwig was stubborn and so damn persistent that he would come by three times a week to update him. By letter of course. Unfortunately, the German soldier had stopped coming for a week now.

Feliciano was getting worried. Romano could be in any situation. The last he'd heard was that his brother was still living and in stable condition at the camp Ludwig worked at. But now... he didn't know anything.

Another week passed and then finally on a stormy night; rain pounded against the windows, thunder rumbled loudly, lighting flashed in the sky, and there was a quite knock on the door.

Feliciano was sitting at the table with a mug of coffee in his hands and he stood up to answer the door. He opened it and saw a soaking wet, slightly trembling Ludwig standing there.

"H-he's been transfered to another camp." He said quietly. "I couldn't stop them. I don't know what they'll do t-to him."

Feliciano's heart dropped to the floor. "Oh." He whispered, hands shaking a little. They stood there for a few minutes, silent and both trembling for different reasons. "Come in..."

Ludwig reluctantly stepped in and Feliciano showed him the bathroom where he could dry off. He had a few of Grandpa Roma's clothes and left a sweater and some pants out for the German.

Feliciano sat on the couch and curled up a little, staring blankly at the wall.

He began to cry.

~

For weeks, he'd been staying strong; trying to formulate a plan for Romano to get out. He hadn't spoken to Grandpa Roma or Antonio for a few months. Not even a letter. He was always thought of as the weaker one, the little angel, the one who needed more help.

He wanted to prove that he could do this on his own, find a way, a plan, a solution. He'd convinced himself that he could do it, that he could get connections and start to get to that camp and set his brother free.

But now he felt so weak, so powerless. Feliciano always had a fragile heart. He couldn't take much and this had taken a toll on him. Surprisingly, he'd held out for a month. But he couldn't do it anymore. He knew he'd need help.

And that's just the thing. You can't always do things on your own. Sometimes you just need that helping hand to push you to your goal. There is nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes, there's people who are so stubborn that they refuse help and end up with the result they wanted. Sometimes you don't accept help and get a failed result. Doesn't mean you can't try again.

Ludwig stepped out in the clothes and saw a silently sobbing Feliciano on the sofa. He walked over slowly and placed a comforting hand on his cheek. He tilted his face up gently.

"We will get him out."

A/N: ew. Bad chapter in my opinion. I'm updating because I know you've been waiting for it and I feel really bad when I take forever. But I'm not getting inspiration for this story. I have so many ideas for other stories and its like "wtf brain?". I'm updating for you. I'm trying.
