In the land of Illandrya there lived a girl with powers, unlike any others. Abandoned by her birth parents when her powers developed, called a freak by the passing villagers, shunned from her home town, Freya Held was left to her own devices in a nearby forest at the tender age of 8.
Luckily there was a kind old scholar who took her in. For 12 years she lived in peace in the woods bordering Illandrya and Zarcadia. From the outside, it looked like a normal cottage, covered in thick shrubbery, but it hid a secret. In this cottage, the scholar taught her how to harness her powers and how to create healing tonics and balms. They lived in peace until one day the Gods took him back, never to return to Freya again.
At the age of 20, the peaceful world that Freya knew was turned upside down. War. Terrible and bloody was looming the horizon. Word spread in the markets of nearby towns that the King of Zarcadia initiated it, most suspected it was due to his power-hungry disposition and the deteriorating state of his countries affairs. Soldiers flooded the town of Sil, making the once quaint little border town into a base for the first-line defence.
This is where our story starts.
