We begin our story meeting a newborn baby.   Born late in the day, seven and a half pounds, a beautiful baby girl. The moment she entered the world,  she was alone.   No one to hold her,  hold her close to their chest because her mother didn't want her.  Being a Caucasian woman she couldn't risk raising a Black child, so she gave her away.   She didn't give her child a name, a token of love,  nothing.   Baby Kelhoffer was this young babe's name, only because she had to be identified somehow.   She spent her first few nights alone and she would experience that same feeling many many times throughout her life
