Group Bonding! - Chapter Twelve

  The tapping of a knife on a cutting board sounded through the room as I cut the dough for udon noodles.

  After a while, I heard someone walk up to the open window in the kitchen. Looking over, I saw a head of raven-colored hair peering at me over the sill.

  "Ah, Uchiha-san, your early!"

  He nodded and gestured to the room.

  "Can you come inside? Oh, sure," with that he walked away, I assumed to the door. My suspicion was proved correct when I heard the door open and his footsteps make their way to the kitchen.

  "What brings you here so early?" I asked, confused, as I turned around.

  "I was just walking by and thought I'd just be early."

  "Ah, no offense, but you don't seem to be the type to willingly come early to someone else's house."

  He sighed and hardened his stare. "Fine, I came here to warn you. If you so much as look at anyone in the village wrong, I won't regret destroying you."

  "Hey, don't worry," I held my hands up in surrender and then realized that this was the most I'd ever heard him talk while I'd been here, "I'm not going to hurt anyone. If you think that I'm a bad person, then why would I be allowed to live here and even become the assistant for a jounin teacher?"

  He thought about it for a moment then "Hn"ed and turned to sit down on the couch.

  "Well, whatever. The rest should be here soon. As long as Kakashi-sensei doesn't come late."

—— A while later ——

  I had finished with the udon and it was cooling in a bowl when I heard a knock from my door.

  "Ah, hold on a second!" I wiped my hands on my shirt and jogged to the door. Opening it, I found a head of pink hair and a head of grey hair staring back at me.

  "Welcome to my humble abode. Oh, where's Uzumaki-san?"

  They shrugged and Sasuke spoke from behind me, "That dobe is probably late."

  "Sasuke-kun! You're here already?" Sakura asked suspiciously.

  "Oh, yeah, he got here a while ago. Said he was walking around the village and didn't want to have to walk all the way back," I covered for him. He nodded at me in a small thanks and turned back after hearing a boy's voice yelling from afar.

  "Sakura-chan! Kakashi-sensei! Wait for me!" An orange blue was closing in on them.

The two who were called moved out of the way and I followed them watching as Naruto collided with Sasuke.

"Get off of me."

The blond scrambled up and looked at me before explaining his lateness. "Sorry I'm late. I stopped by the old man's office to see what our next mission was, but he wouldn't tell me..."

"Seeing as you three are genin, you'll get another mission like you've been getting."

"Ah, I wouldn't be too sure about that. You never know, we could get a C rank."

They turned to me confused and I explained further. "If you can convince the Hokage that you deserve a better mission, I mean."

"How would you know how the mission ranks work?"

"I told you before, Sensei, I'm psychic."

  All he did was give me a look that I couldn't really read with his mask.

  "So, do you all want to sit down and have some udon?" They all nodded and we walked to my table.

  There were five cushions laid out on the floor around it as well as a big bowl of steaming udon noodles sitting in the center. We each took a seat, me and Kakashi taking the seats on the ends while Sasuke and Sakura sat on one side and Naruto took the other.

  "So shall I introduce myself formally?" I asked after everyone had gotten their food. "My name is (L/N) (Y/N). I'm a newly appointed Jounin, and I like drawing and climbing trees."

"Wait, Jounin? We just found you outside, how could you be a Jounin already?" Sakura exclaimed in shock.

"Ah, right. Well, I'm a special case. The reason I'm joining your team is to be an assistant sensei. I heard you can be a rowdy bunch."

"You say that like your older than us!" Naruto exclaimed, mouth full.

"I am. I'm fifteen. And you all are twelve, right?"

"Yeah."

We sat at the table for about an hour and a half, chatting about small things until I looked outside.

"Wow, it's already late, isn't it? You all should head home. Don't wanna travel in the dark, now do you?" I spoke to the three that were younger than me. I then turned to our sensei. "Should we all meet at the Hokage's to get the mission tomorrow?"

He nodded in agreement.

  The four of them said their goodbyes and left while I smiled back and waved.

  Once they were out of sight, I plopped down on my couch and spoke out loud to Taela.

  "Uh, Taela?"

  'Yeah?'

  "Do you sleep?"

  'What? I don't need to, why?' Her confusion was evident.

  "I don't have an alarm clock... do you maybe think you could stand-in for it?"

  'Wow. I'm an extremely powerful and dangerous being, and I'm being used as an alarm clock,' she spoke, almost to herself.

  "Thank you!"
