Episode 28 - Surprise Visit

Seeing that arrogant look in his eyes, muntik ko nang makalimutan na siya ang nagluto ng pagkain ko.

To be honest, wala ako sa mood makipag away sa kanya.

Especially now na alam kong hindi pala siya 100% demonyo.

I sigh.

"Wala akong oras para sa mga laro mo, Kieth. Would you just leave me alone?"

Tiningnan niya ako with a questioning look.

Na para bang may sinabi akong out of character.

But then he smiles as if alam na niya ang rason kung bakit ako nagkakaganito.

"Sure." He shrugs nonchalantly and leaves just like that.

What was that smile for?

"Miss Mira, you're needed at the set."

Then, one of the staff calls out to me and my mind completely went back to work-mode. It was then na napansin ko na wala pala si Clair sa tabi ko.

But thinking nothing of it, I brush the thought away.

"Okay, I'll be out in a sec." I reply.

With one more look in the mirror, I nod to myself.

Work.

Don't think of anything else.

Just work.

Lumabas ako ng dressing room and there I see Clair waiting for me.

"Where were you? You were supposed to inform me when the director calls for me." Galit kong sabi sa kanya.

I didn't think much of it pero hindi ko mapigilan ang sarili kong magalit sa kanya.

Maybe it became a habit of mine.

She bows apologetically, "I'm sorry, Miss. There was an urgent call."

I roll my eyes, "Whatever."

Walking towards the set, I leave Clair behind like the diva I am.

On the set, I see V and the director talking while Kieth is sitting on a chair right beside the camera, wiping his sunglasses.

Akala ko ba busy ka Mr. SimSimi? Do you really have to supervise the filming?

And V, I'm glad na hindi na siya na aapektohan pero his smile seems forced.

For a second, hindi ko alam kung lalapit ba ako o hindi.

I know pinatawag ako ng director but seeing them together in the same room made me feel very uncomfortable.

Hesitant, binagalan ko ang paglakad ko.

But in that instant, lumingon sa direksyon ko si V and he flashes me a genuine smile.

Na notice ito ng director and he followed his gaze to me.

"Oh Miss Mira! There you are! Come! Come! Shooting is about to start! Everyone, alert!" He beckons me to walk faster and I quicken my pace.

The director's gay by the way.

From the corner of my eye, nakita ko si Kieth na nakatitig sa akin pero hindi ko na pinansin.

Work.

This is just work.

Inulit ko ang mga salitang kanina ko pa sinasabi sa sarili ko.

"Hey, you okay?" V asks.

I look at him and smile, "Yeah, never better."

Hinawakan ni V ang kamay ko and I instinctively squeezed it.

*snap*

Suddenly may narinig kaming snap na galing sa kung saan naka-upo si Kieth.

Surprised, I turn to look at him.

He was still sitting but the bridge of his sunglasses broke in half.

"Oops." He commented jokingly, his eyes on his sunglasses. "It broke."

Biglang nanlamig ang atmosphere at kahit na natatawa si Kieth, ramdam na ramdam ko ang hostility sa boses niya.

"Buy a new one then." V speaks out and swings his hand around my shoulder protectively.

With this, timingin si Kieth sa amin.

Hindi ko alam kung ano ang nasa isip niya pero nakita ko na nakatitig siya sa kamay ni V.

He smiled once again and eyed V.

"I don't need a new one."

And then, nag stare-down silang dalawa.

Awkwardness fills the air around us.

Direk, kailan pa ba tayo magsisimula ng shooting? Please save me.

I pray for the shoot to start and to get away from this uncomfortable atmosphere.

And then...

"Ma'am! You're not allowed to go in there!" Sigaw ng isang lalaki na nasa labas ng set.

"Ma'am, please, listen to us, you can't go in!" Another man pleads.

"Out of my way, peasants." A woman says, voice full of pride.

May narinig kaming gulo sa labas and with a few more rushed footsteps, the doors flung open.

Aliyah walked in with men from the staff behind her.

Everyone fell silent.

In an instant, she catches my gaze and gives me a sinister smile,

"Hi~ Did you miss me?"
