Winter

There's an abundance of snow,

Lying on the floor,

As I stare out my window,

And wonder if there's more.

The fireplace is on,

While I'm alone at night,

Sipping hot cocoa from a cup,

And staring at this beautiful sight.

I feel warm and cozy,

Especially with the lights down low,

It looks amazing now,

But not compared to the snow.

I'm glad I'm inside,

But I wish it could stay.

Knowing when the season's over,

Everything will change.

I'm gonna miss listening to tunes,

Especially in the christmas spirit,

And singing along out loud,

With nobody else to hear it.

I like being alone in the winter,

But I wish I had somebody who cared,

And would hold me at times,

When nobody would be there.

But all I need is to stay warm,

Inside and out,

So does my heart,

Like waiting for rain in a drought.

With my hot cocoa in my hand,

I place it near the floor,

And look outside the window,

To see a face by the door.

He looks cold and misguided,

Afraid and all alone,

So quickly I let him in,

Fearful he'll turn into stone.
